Hoe je een LinkedIn-post die goed werkte opnieuw gebruikt
MagicPost gives you four ways to reuse a post that is already published. You can repost it on LinkedIn with your comment on top, reuse it as a new scheduled post, duplicate it as a draft, or save it as a template. A copy made with Reuse this post keeps a history of its versions, from the original post to the copy itself. The repost, the reuse and the duplicate are included in Growth, Creator, Agency en Team. Templates feed the AI generator, which is included in Creator, Agency en Team.
Repost a published post with your comment
A MagicPost repost sends your published post back to the LinkedIn feed, with a new text of yours above it. MagicPost names this a repost with thoughts.
Open the published post from the Posts page or from the Calendar.
In the Performance panel, click Repost. MagicPost opens the Repost this post window.
Write your text under Your comment. The comment is required: the buttons stay inactive while the field is empty.
Click Publish now to repost right away, or Schedule to open the repost as a draft and pick its date and time.
The repost window of MagicPost also has an Or repost in: row, with a choice of delays in hours. Pick a delay, then click the button that reads Schedule in followed by that delay. MagicPost creates the repost and schedules it for you.
What a MagicPost repost can and cannot do
A repost always carries a comment. MagicPost cannot repost a post without text. The window says so: "Direct repost is only available on LinkedIn."
One repost per post. Once a post is reposted, MagicPost removes its Repost button and shows a Reposted badge on View on LinkedIn. Click the badge, then View repost, to open the repost on LinkedIn.
A repost cannot be reposted. MagicPost shows no Repost button on a post that is itself a repost.
Text only. In the MagicPost editor, the poll button, the media button and the AI editing options are not available on a repost. The poll and media buttons show "Unavailable on a repost".
A repost is a separate post. MagicPost lists the repost in the Posts page and in the calendar with a repost icon. Hover over the icon to read Repost with thoughts and to follow View the original post. The repost has its own statistics.
Change or cancel a scheduled repost
When a repost is scheduled with a delay, the Repost button of the original post turns into a countdown in MagicPost. Click the countdown to open Edit repost. From there you change the delay, open the text with Edit the text, or remove the repost with Cancel repost.
Reuse a published post as a new post
The Reuse this post button of MagicPost copies a published post and opens the copy for scheduling. The button sits at the bottom of the Performance panel of a published post, with the note "The current post will be duplicated". Edit the copy, pick a date and time, then schedule it like any other post: see how to schedule a LinkedIn post.
A copy made with Reuse this post stays linked to the post it comes from. In the MagicPost post panel, the copy shows a Recycled post badge next to its title. On a narrow screen, the badge shows only its icon. Hover over the badge, or tap it on a touch screen, to see the Recycling history in a small panel under the badge.
Reusing a copy again extends the same MagicPost lineage. If post C is a reuse of post B, and post B is a reuse of post A, the Recycling history of post C lists A, B and C in that order, and its header reads Recycle 2, the rank of post C. Post C comes last in the list, highlighted with a This post tag.
Outside the post panel, MagicPost marks the same copies with a recycled post icon: at the right of the Post column on the Posts page, and at the bottom of a card on the Calendar. In the month view of the calendar, a day with more than one post or idea shows small cards without the icon.
Hover over the recycled post icon of MagicPost to open a tooltip headed Recycled post and the rank of the copy, such as Recycle 1. Under that header, the tooltip shows the whole recycling thread: every version from Original post to the copy itself, which comes last with a This post tag. A published version shows the first line of its text, its date and its figures. Click an earlier version in the tooltip to open it in the post panel. The copy you hover over cannot be clicked in its own tooltip.
In the Posts tab of the MagicPost Metrics page, a published copy made with Reuse this post carries a gray Recycled badge. The badge shows in the Post cell of the Table view and on the card of the Posts (cards) view, next to the Boosted badge when the copy has one. The Timeline view has no Recycled badge. Only copies carry the Recycled badge: a post that was reused has no badge, and the Recycling column gives its count.
Hover over the Recycled badge of MagicPost Metrics to open a tooltip headed Recycled post and the rank of the copy, such as Recycle 1. The tooltip shows the whole recycling thread, from Original post to the copy itself, which comes last with a This post tag. A version that is among your posts in Metrics shows the first line of its text, its date and its figures. A version that is not among them reads "Post not found". Click an earlier version in the tooltip to open it in the post panel, as a click on its row does.
The Recycled post badge, the Recycled badge and the icon only appear on copies made with Reuse this post once MagicPost started recording their history. MagicPost did not record the lineage of older copies, so they have no badge, no icon and no history, and the Recycled quick filter of Metrics does not keep them.
Duplicate a post as a draft
Duplicate as draft creates a copy of any MagicPost post without opening it for scheduling. You find it in two places: in the three-dot menu of a row in the Posts page, and in the three-dot menu at the top of the editor when a post is open.
The MagicPost duplicate contains the text with its mentions, the media, and the poll when the post has no media. The duplicate is a new draft: it has no date, no statistics and no link to the original post. The original post keeps its date and its statistics.
Save the structure of a post as a template
When the structure of a post is what worked, Save as template in the three-dot menu of the MagicPost editor keeps that structure for later generations. A duplicate reuses one post once. A template lets the AI generator write new posts in the same shape, on any subject. See how to turn a post into a template.
Compare the original and the new version
For a copy that shows the Recycled post badge, the Recycling history of MagicPost lists every version of the same content, from the original post to the copy you have open. Open the copy, then hover over the Recycled post badge next to its title, or tap it on a touch screen. The history lists the versions from the oldest: Original post, then Recycle 1, Recycle 2 and so on. The post you have open comes last, highlighted with a This post tag, and the header of the history gives its rank, such as Recycle 2.
Each published version in the MagicPost Recycling history is a compact line: the thumbnail of its media when it has one, the first line of its text, its date, its impressions when it has some, its likes and its comments. A version that is not published yet, such as a copy still in draft or scheduled, shows only the first line of its text. The Recycling history does not show shares.
Under the versions, the MagicPost Recycling history shows a Median impressions for these posts line. The figure is the median of the impressions of the published versions in the thread, the post you have open included. The line appears only when at least two versions have impressions. Compare the impressions of each version with that median to see which versions did better. The tooltips of the recycled post icon and of the Recycled badge show the same thread and the same median line.
Click an earlier version in the MagicPost Recycling history to open it in the post panel. The post you have open cannot be clicked in its own history. A version that is no longer in your MagicPost post list reads "Post not found" and cannot be opened. "Post not found" does not always mean the post was deleted.
The Recycling column of the MagicPost Metrics page shows the same lineage in the Posts table, next to the metrics of each post. The column is unchecked by default: add it with the columns icon (tooltip Columns). A copy shows the recycled post icon and its rank, such as Recycle 2. Hover over the icon to open the same tooltip as the Recycled badge: Recycled post, the rank, then the whole recycling thread with its median impressions line. Click an earlier version in the tooltip to open it in the post panel. A post that was reused shows Original post and its count, such as Recycled 3 times, copies of copies included. The count covers all your published posts in Metrics, not only the selected period. Sorting the column orders the copies by rank, and original posts sort with the posts that were never recycled. The Recycling column exists on your own profile only. Metrics are included in Growth, Creator, Agency en Team.
The Recycled quick filter of the Posts tab of MagicPost Metrics keeps the copies made with Reuse this post, whatever their performance. The filter comes after Boosted in the quick filters row, and appears only when the selected period has at least one of these copies. Selected together with Viral, Bangers, Good, Flops or Boosted, it adds the copies to theirs: a post is kept when it matches any of the selected filters. A recycled copy still counts in Viral, Bangers, Good or Flops according to its own figures. The Recycled filter keeps copies only, not the original posts that were reused.
For other copies, such as a Duplicate as draft or an older copy without the badge, use the Posts tab of the MagicPost Metrics page. It lists every published post with its metrics. Metrics are included in Growth, Creator, Agency en Team. Three tools help you put two versions side by side.
Search. Type a phrase that both versions share in the Search for a post field.
Labels. Give the same label to both versions, then filter by that label. MagicPost caps the number of labels per account, so use one label per recurring idea.
Reposts filter. In Filters, the Reposts group shows Reposts only or Hide reposts.
The MagicPost metrics dashboard itself is covered in how to analyze your LinkedIn metrics.
What MagicPost does not do
MagicPost does not repost a post without a comment.
MagicPost does not repost the same post a second time.
MagicPost has no setting that reposts every post automatically. A repost is created post by post.
MagicPost does not link a copy made with Duplicate as draft to its original. An older copy made with Reuse this post, before MagicPost recorded recycling history, has no link either. Use a shared label or the search to group those versions.
MagicPost has no filter for recycled copies on the Posts page or on the Calendar. The Recycled quick filter exists only in the Posts tab of the Metrics page. On the Posts page and on the Calendar, look for the recycled post icon.
MagicPost has no filter that selects the original posts that were reused. To spot them, add the Recycling column on the Metrics page.
FAQ
Can I repost a post from MagicPost without adding a comment?
No. A repost made from MagicPost always carries your comment, and the buttons stay inactive without text. A repost without comment can only be done on LinkedIn itself.
Can I schedule a repost for later?
Yes, in two ways. In the repost window of MagicPost, Schedule opens the repost as a draft so that you pick an exact date and time. The Or repost in: row schedules the repost a few hours later, with the delays listed in the window.
Why is there no Repost button on my published post?
There are two usual reasons. The post has already been reposted, and MagicPost shows a Reposted badge on View on LinkedIn instead. Or the post is itself a repost, and MagicPost does not repost a repost.
Can I change the date of a post that is already published?
No. A published post stays published at its date, and MagicPost cannot move it on the calendar. To publish the same content again, use Reuse this post or Duplicate as draft, then schedule the copy.
How do I see the earlier versions of a reused post?
Open the copy in MagicPost and hover over the Recycled post badge next to its title, or tap it on a touch screen. The Recycling history lists every version, from the original post to the copy you have open. Each published version shows its date, its impressions when it has some, its likes and its comments. Click an earlier version to open it in the post panel. This works for copies made with Reuse this post that show the badge, not for a Duplicate as draft.
Why does the Recycling history of my post show no median impressions?
Because fewer than two published versions of the thread have impressions. MagicPost computes Median impressions for these posts from the published versions only, the post you have open included. An original post and a copy still in draft or scheduled give one figure, so MagicPost shows no median until the copy is published and has impressions.
Where can I see which of my posts are recycled copies?
On the Posts page, on the Calendar, in the post panel and on the Metrics page. MagicPost shows a recycled post icon in the Post column of the Posts page and at the bottom of a calendar card, and a Recycled post badge in the post panel. In the Posts tab of the Metrics page, a copy carries a gray Recycled badge, and the Recycling column shows its rank once you add the column. The Recycled quick filter of Metrics keeps only these copies. Copies made before MagicPost recorded recycling history are not marked.
Can I filter my recycled posts in MagicPost?
Yes, in the Posts tab of the MagicPost Metrics page. The Recycled quick filter keeps the copies made with Reuse this post, and appears only when the selected period has at least one. The Posts page and the Calendar have no such filter, and the Recycled filter does not keep the original posts that were reused.
Does the copy keep the poll of the original post?
Only when the original post has no media. MagicPost copies the poll of a post without media, and leaves the poll out when the post also carries media.
