Methodology
How the engagement rate calculation works
LinkedIn engagement rate is calculated as reactions plus comments plus reposts, divided by impressions, multiplied by 100. A post with 63 interactions for 1.250 impressions has an engagement rate of 5,04%.
- Count every visible interaction
Add up the reactions, comments and reposts a post received. LinkedIn shows all three publicly, which means this works on a competitor's post as well as your own.
- Divide by impressions, not followers
Impressions count how many times the post was displayed. Divide by followers instead and you punish the posts that spread beyond your audience, which are usually the good ones.
- Compare a post to your own average
Small audiences engage more, and rates drop as reach grows. A number that looks weak next to someone else's can still be a strong post for your account. Read it against your own last ten posts.
MagicPost tracks the engagement on each post you publish, next to your impressions and follower growth.

Every post's rate, without the copy-paste
This calculator is handy for one post. Connect your profile and MagicPost pulls impressions, reactions and comments from LinkedIn's official APIs for every post you publish.
Every rate, already computed. Impressions and interactions are collected for each post, with nothing to copy or paste.
Engagement next to reach. A rate alone can flatter a post nobody saw. MagicPost shows both sides on one screen.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is a good engagement rate on LinkedIn?
No number works for everyone. Rates fall as audiences grow, and a post that reached the right 200 people can beat one that went viral. Judge each post against your own recent average. See the full monthly impressions report
Does this calculator read my LinkedIn account?
No. The MagicPost engagement rate calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your figures are never sent to MagicPost's servers, and nothing is read from your LinkedIn account. You will find the numbers to type in the analytics LinkedIn shows under each of your posts.
Do clicks count as engagement?
LinkedIn counts clicks in the engagement it reports to you, but clicks stay hidden on other people's posts. This calculator sticks to the public formula, which works on any post you can open. LinkedIn's in-app rate may therefore come out slightly higher.
Should I divide by impressions or by followers?
Both formulas exist. Dividing by impressions tells you how the people who saw the post reacted. Dividing by followers tells you how far it travelled, and the reach calculator already covers that side with impressions by follower count. LinkedIn Reach Calculator
