¿Cómo agrego un título al contenido multimedia cargado (imagen, carrusel, video) con MagicPost?

In MagicPost, you set the alt text of each image, and the title of a video or of a PDF document, from the Edit button shown at the top right of the media in the editor. An image has an alt text, not a title, and a PDF title is required. MagicPost can also write the alt text of an image with AI, for free. Editing media is part of the MagicPost editor, included in the Growth, Creator, Agency y Team plans and in the free trial. On Agency, a member on an Engagement seat has no access to the MagicPost editor.

Open the edit window of a media

  1. Open the post in the MagicPost editor, from New post, Posts or Calendar.

  2. Click Edit at the top right of the media.

  3. Choose the first entry of the menu. MagicPost names it after the media: Edit alt text for a single image, Edit alt texts for several images, Edit title and thumbnail for a video, Edit title for a PDF.

  4. Fill in the fields, then click Save.

When you upload a video or a PDF, MagicPost opens this window by itself, so you can set the title right away.

The same MagicPost Edit menu also holds Replace and Delete the media. For images, the menu adds Add an image. On images, Replace in the menu replaces all the images of the post with a single image or GIF picked in your media library. To change one image only, use Replace inside the alt text window.

Images: write the alt text

For images, MagicPost shows one image at a time, in a large preview, next to an Alt text field. The alt text is read by screen readers instead of the image: describe what the image shows and copy any text written in it. MagicPost sends the alt text of each image to LinkedIn with the post.

When a MagicPost post has several images, all the images of the post appear as thumbnails under the large preview, and the image shown is outlined. Click a thumbnail to show that image and write its alt text. A green check on a thumbnail means the image already has an alt text. A red mark means its alt text is too long.

The alt text of an image has a length limit in MagicPost. The counter under the field shows how many characters you have used and the maximum. When the alt text is too long, MagicPost says by how many characters, and Save stays disabled until you shorten it.

Images: change the order, replace or remove

Under the large preview, MagicPost offers these actions for the image shown:

  • Move left and Move right, the two arrow buttons, change the position of the image in the post. They appear only when the post has several images.

  • Replace swaps the image for another image file from your computer.

  • Remove takes the image out of the post.

MagicPost applies the new order, the replaced images and the removed images when you click Save. Cancel closes the window and drops these changes.

Images: generate the alt text with AI

MagicPost can write the alt text of an image with AI. The AI alt text is free: MagicPost does not use any of your AI credits for it.

  • Generate with AI, above the Alt text field, writes the alt text of the image shown. When the image already has an alt text, the button reads Regenerate.

  • On a post with several images, the button next to the thumbnails writes the alt text of every image that has none. It shows the number of images, for example Generate 3 missing alt texts. When only one image has no alt text, it reads Generate missing alt text. Stop interrupts it, and the alt texts already written stay.

The MagicPost AI writes the alt text in the language of the post. When the post is empty or its language is unclear, it uses the language of your MagicPost interface. The AI describes what the image shows and copies the text written in the image, such as the text of a slide or of a quote card.

The AI alt text lands in the field, and you can edit it. MagicPost shows "Written by AI. Review it before saving." until you change the text. MagicPost saves nothing until you click Save, and Save stays disabled while the AI is still writing.

If you regenerate over an existing alt text, MagicPost shows "Text replaced" with an Undo button that brings your own text back. If you generate many alt texts in a short time, MagicPost shows "Too many attempts. Try again in a minute." MagicPost also caps the number of AI alt texts per day. Once that daily cap is reached, AI generation stays unavailable until the cap resets.

Video: title and thumbnail

For a video, the MagicPost Edit title and thumbnail window shows a Preview of the video, next to a Video title field and a Thumbnail section. MagicPost sends the title and the chosen thumbnail to LinkedIn with the video. On a computer, LinkedIn shows the title under the video. On mobile, it does not show it.

The video title is optional in MagicPost. When the field is empty and you click Save, MagicPost asks you to confirm: Add a title takes you back to the field, Save without title saves the video without one.

The MagicPost video Preview shows the video as the LinkedIn feed does. The frame takes the shape of the video, but never taller than 4:5. A taller video, such as a 9:16 vertical video, appears whole and centered, with a blurred copy of itself filling the sides. The two buttons above the preview switch it between computer and mobile, and the preview changes with the thumbnail you select. Click the preview to play the video.

Choose the thumbnail in the grid

The MagicPost Thumbnail section is a grid of six tiles, in rows of three. Click a tile to select it: the selected tile has a check mark. The grid holds:

  • The thumbnail already saved on the post, marked Current. This tile appears only when the post has a saved thumbnail, and it is selected when you open the window.

  • Moments of the video, taken at regular intervals: five moments, or four when the post has a saved thumbnail. Each tile shows its time in the video.

  • Import, to use your own image as the thumbnail.

When a MagicPost video has no saved thumbnail and you click Save without clicking a tile or typing a timestamp, MagicPost sends no thumbnail, and LinkedIn chooses one itself.

Pick an exact moment

Under the grid, the MagicPost Exact timestamp field lets you aim between two moments. Type a time, such as 1:05, 01:05 or a number of seconds like 65. The preview follows once you stop typing, and the total length of the video is shown next to the field.

  • Press Enter to apply the time right away.

  • Press the up or down arrow key to move one second forward or back.

Import your own image

Click Import in the MagicPost thumbnail grid to choose a JPEG or PNG file from your computer. MagicPost has a maximum file size for this image: the Import tile of a vertical or square video shows it, and MagicPost shows it in an error message when a file is too large.

The imported image takes the place of the Import tile, marked Your image, with a cross that removes it. When the shape of the image differs from the shape of the video, MagicPost warns that its edges may be cropped.

While the video is uploading

MagicPost opens the Edit title and thumbnail window in full as soon as you upload a video. The preview shows the upload progress, and the moment tiles show as loading until the upload finishes. You can already type the title and import an image. Save and Cancel become available once the upload is complete.

PDF: a required title

For a PDF, MagicPost shows a Document title field. MagicPost fills it with the file name by default, and sends the title to LinkedIn with the document.

The title of a PDF is required in MagicPost. When the field is empty, MagicPost shows "Required" under it and Save stays disabled.

A PDF carousel has no alt text in MagicPost, neither for the document nor for each page. MagicPost sends a PDF to LinkedIn with its title only.

Length limit for titles

MagicPost limits the length of video and PDF titles, with a lower limit than for the alt text of an image. When a title is too long, MagicPost shows the maximum number of characters under the field and Save stays disabled until you shorten it.

For how to attach the media in the first place, see adding media to a post.

FAQ

Can I give a title to an image?

No. In MagicPost, an image carries an alt text, and only videos and PDF documents carry a title. Use Edit alt text, or Edit alt texts when the post has several images, to describe each image.

Can MagicPost write the alt text of my images with AI?

Yes, for free. In the MagicPost alt text window, click Generate with AI for the image shown, or, on a post with several images, the button next to the thumbnails that writes every missing alt text. The AI writes in the language of the post and copies the text written in the image. MagicPost does not use AI credits for it. Review the text, then click Save.

Why don't I see Generate with AI?

The media is not an image, you opened the post through a MagicPost share link, or you are on a Growth or Analytics seat. MagicPost offers AI alt text only for images, and not to a person who reviews a post from a share link. On Agency, a member on a Growth or Analytics seat does not see the AI alt text buttons: those seats do not include AI. Videos and PDF documents take a title that you type yourself.

Can I add alt text to each page of a PDF carousel?

No. MagicPost sends a PDF document to LinkedIn with a single title, and no alt text for the document or its pages. To get an alt text per slide, post the slides as separate images.

Why can't I save my PDF?

The title is missing. MagicPost requires a title for every PDF document: fill in Document title, then click Save.

Can I change the title after the post is published?

No. MagicPost does not show the Edit button on the media of a published post. Set the title and the alt texts before you publish or schedule.

Why are there no moments of my video in the thumbnail grid?

Either the video is still uploading, or MagicPost could not read images from the file. The moments of a video arrive in the MagicPost thumbnail grid at the end of the upload. If MagicPost shows "Couldn't extract images from this video. Upload an image to choose the thumbnail.", the moments and the Exact timestamp field are not available for that file: click Import to use your own image. When only one moment could not be read, the grid simply has no tile for it.

Can I use a moment that is not in the thumbnail grid?

Yes. Type the time in the MagicPost Exact timestamp field under the grid, for example 1:05 or 65 for 65 seconds. The preview shows the image at that time, and the up and down arrow keys move it by one second. Click Save to keep it.

How do I change the order of the images in a post?

Open Edit, then Edit alt texts. Click the thumbnail of the image to move, then use Move left or Move right under the large preview. Click Save to keep the new order in MagicPost.
