Hoe gebruik je de tabbladen Publiek en Benchmarks?
The Audience tab of MagicPost metrics describes the people who react to your LinkedIn posts: their countries, fields, industries, company sizes and account types. The Benchmarks tab compares your impressions with LinkedIn creators in your follower range. Both tabs are part of the MagicPost metrics dashboard, included in Growth, Creator, Agency en Team and open during the free trial.
The Audience and Benchmarks tabs of MagicPost work on your own profile only. On another creator's profile, both tabs are greyed out with the tooltip Available only on your profile. The LinkedIn analytics page presents the feature.
What the Audience tab measures
The Audience tab of MagicPost analyzes the profiles that react to your posts. It does not analyze your full list of LinkedIn followers. MagicPost builds a sample from the people who engaged with your recent posts, so the figures can differ from the follower statistics LinkedIn shows you.
The practical reading: the Audience tab tells you who your content reaches and moves, which is not always who follows you. If you write for product managers and the Audience tab shows mostly students, your content is reaching a different audience than the one you target.
How to run the audience analysis
In MagicPost, open Metrics, then the Audience tab.
On the Discover your audience card, click Start the analysis.
Wait while MagicPost scans your recent posts. A progress bar shows the advance, and Stop cancels the analysis.
When the first MagicPost audience analysis is complete, the Audience tab shows the charts. MagicPost can then keep refining the audience in the background, which may take several minutes. The charts stay on screen while the audience is refined.
What the Audience tab shows
Once analyzed, the Audience tab of MagicPost opens with four highlights: Top countries, Top vertical, Top field and Top archetype. Below, a series of charts details the audience:
Country and Cities
Fields: the job areas of the people who react to your posts
Verticals or Industries: when both are available, a switch on the chart changes the source. Verticals are sectors that MagicPost infers from the profiles. Industries are the official industry each profile declares on LinkedIn.
Archetypes
Company size
Follower distribution: how many followers the people who react to you have themselves
Account type
The Audience tab of MagicPost does not show seniority, and it does not list individual people. It shows percentages over the sample.
How to refresh the audience
Next to the My audience title, MagicPost shows Last sync and how long ago the analysis ran, with a green dot when the audience is recent and an orange dot when it is old.
The Refresh button of the Audience tab appears only once the last analysis is old. While the audience is recent, there is no button to click: MagicPost considers the data up to date. The audience analysis is separate from the post sync, so syncing your posts from the line under your name (Synced …) does not update it.
On a phone or in a narrow browser window, the Audience tab of MagicPost shows neither Last sync nor Refresh. Open the Audience tab on a computer to see them.
What the Benchmarks tab shows
The Benchmarks tab of MagicPost places your figures next to LinkedIn creators who have a similar number of followers. It contains these blocks:
Impressions by follower range: the typical impressions of each follower range, with your own position. You can change the month.
Impression benchmark: your rank among creators in your follower range, as a percentile.
Benchmark by format: your median impressions per format, against your follower range.
Your impressions over time: your monthly median impressions next to the range of creators your size.
Number of words: a score per post length, with the length you usually write.
Days of the week: a score per day, with the days you post most.
The Impression benchmark and Benchmark by format blocks follow the period selected at the top of the Metrics page. The Impressions by follower range block uses a full month, the previous one by default.
The Your impressions over time block of the MagicPost Benchmarks tab covers the months of the selected period, with a minimum number of months so the chart keeps enough points. The Number of words and Days of the week blocks do not use the selected period.
The Benchmarks tab answers a question your own numbers cannot: whether a figure is good for an account of your size. When a number feels low, check the Benchmarks tab before changing anything. If you sit at the median of your follower range, the figure is normal.
Next to the title of the Benchmarks tab, MagicPost shows a Last month's full benchmark link. It opens the latest edition of the public monthly LinkedIn benchmark that MagicPost publishes, in a new browser tab and in the language of your MagicPost interface. That page shows aggregated figures across LinkedIn creators, not your own figures.
Adding Audience and Benchmarks to a report
The MagicPost metrics report can include an Audience page and a Benchmarks page. In the Export stats window, check Include audience or Include benchmarks. Include audience is available only after an audience analysis has run. See how to export your LinkedIn metrics.
FAQ
Does the Audience tab show who follows me on LinkedIn?
No. The Audience tab of MagicPost analyzes the profiles that react to your posts, from a sample of your recent posts. It is not a breakdown of your follower list, and its figures can differ from LinkedIn's follower statistics.
Why is there no Refresh button on my Audience tab?
The Refresh button appears only when the last audience analysis is old. Until then, MagicPost shows Last sync with a green dot and no button. On a phone or in a narrow browser window, MagicPost shows neither Last sync nor Refresh: open the Audience tab on a computer.
Can I see the audience of another LinkedIn creator?
No. The Audience and Benchmarks tabs of MagicPost work on your own profile only. On another creator's profile, MagicPost shows their public posts with likes and comments, nothing private.
Where do the benchmark numbers come from?
MagicPost computes the benchmarks from aggregated figures across LinkedIn creators, grouped by follower range. The Benchmarks tab shows ranges, medians and scores. It never shows the figures of an individual creator.
Which MagicPost plan includes Audience and Benchmarks?
The Audience and Benchmarks tabs come with the metrics dashboard, included in Growth, Creator, Agency en Team. On the Agency plan, a member on an Engagement seat has no access to metrics. If you are still on a former Analytics or Starter plan, see the Analytics and Starter plans.
