Business Development is one of the most crowded topics on LinkedIn: we count 15,075 Business Development posts in the last 12 months in our dataset alone. Almost all of them vanish. The typical Business Development post earns 28 likes.

So who actually moves the needle when they talk about Business Development? At MagicPost, we took the 179 creators in our dataset who post about Business Development consistently (at least 10 such posts in the last 12 months, minimum 5,000 followers) and ranked them by median likes on their Business Development posts alone. Not their overall fame: what happens, today, when they hit publish on this specific topic. Number twenty earns 8 times the typical Business Development post. Number one earns 82 times it.

Two numbers you will not find anywhere else sit in each profile below: the share of feed (is Business Development their whole world or a guest appearance?) and the vs-overall figure: whether their Business Development posts earn more or less than their own usual median. Spoiler: for most of this top 20, Business Development under-earns the rest of what they write.

The full board first, then the countdown:

Top 20 LinkedIn creators on Business Development, ranked by real impact

TL;DR: We ranked the top 20 LinkedIn creators on Business Development by one number nobody else publishes: median likes on their business development posts alone, over 12 months and 179 creators. Justin Welsh leads with 2,285 median likes per business development post, 82x what the typical business development post earns (28 likes).

Justin Welsh, the $10M solopreneur and one short essay every Saturday (we profiled him in his data biography), tops this ranking with a 2,285 median, 1.8 times the #2 and 82 times the typical Business Development post on LinkedIn. The nuance in his data: Business Development is only 5% of his feed and earns 25% less than his overall median. His baseline of 3,033 is so high that even a discounted theme post beats everyone else. He carries his crown into this series for the first time as a solo #1, after placing in every one of the first five themes.

"You can be rich and miserable. Or rich and present. Choose wisely." His most liked Business Development post of the year: 5,647 likes. Read it

Where do these cards come from? Every figure on this page runs on MagicPost's LinkedIn analytics: median engagement per theme, share of feed, theme premiums, trajectories, across 179 Business Development creators and 15,075 Business Development posts. It works on your profile too, including a side-by-side with anyone on this list.

Just missed the cut

Five names land right behind, and they say a lot about how this ranking works. Adam Robinson (#21, 230 median likes per Business Development post) and Alex Lieberman (#22, 226) are the famous near-misses. Lieberman, co-founder of Morning Brew, is the structural case: Business Development is just 2% of his 494-post year, yet those rare posts earn a 119% premium over his overall median, the proof that a tourist who shows up occasionally beats his own baseline by a mile. Then come Orane Janvier (#23, 196), whose data biography is here, Alec Henry (#24, 195), profiled in his data biography, and Giovanni Beggiato (#25, 195) closing the list. Publish a little more, hit the median, and any of the five enters the top 20 at the next quarterly refresh.

The efficiency champions (pound for pound)

Raw likes favor big audiences, so here is the other cut: engagement rate on Business Development posts, median likes divided by followers (minimum 20k followers). The list changes completely:

Hillison and Emily D. are the only two people in both the absolute top 20 and this efficiency top 5; the rest of the efficiency list is built entirely on small, dense audiences.

The volume game (total Business Development engagement)

One more cut: not the typical post, but the total likes generated on Business Development posts over 12 months. This is where the high-frequency voices get their due:

Welsh generates the most total engagement with 29 posts; Ben Kelly needs 131 to reach barely half of it. The volume game and the median game agree at the very top here, which is rare: Welsh wins both, on a fraction of the output of the creators chasing him.

The conversation champion

The ratio of comments to likes, the cut nobody publishes. The Business Development record belongs to Tom Hunt: 89 median comments against 100 median likes on his Business Development posts, a 0.89 ratio when the platform norm is closer to one comment per ten likes. Business Development is just 6% of his feed, but when he posts it, his comment section does almost as much work as his like count.

The residents and the tourists

Of the 179 creators who post Business Development consistently, only 3 dedicate more than half their feed to it. This top 20 reflects that almost perfectly: the single resident is Ben Kelly (58% of his feed), and everyone else is a tourist. Justin Welsh (5%), Chris Donnelly (3%) and Tom Mills (3%) sit at the far tourist end, dropping in rarely on a topic that is a sideline to their main content.

The tourist pattern is mixed here, and that is the interesting part. Some tourists earn a clear premium when they visit (Chris Donnelly +25%, Cynthia Barnes +89%, Kyle Poyar +41%), while the biggest names take a discount (Justin Welsh -25%, Codie A. Sanchez -40%): when your baseline is already enormous, even a strong Business Development post struggles to beat it. A clear explainer can out-earn an audience that came for something else, unless that audience already came for you.

Two related studies while you are here: who dominates LinkedIn country by country (United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, the full series), and the rest of the theme rankings on the creators pillar. And if your plan includes showing up in these creators' comments, an engagement feed makes that a daily five-minute habit.

Study them, then study yourself. With MagicPost you can analyze any Business Development creator the way we just did (median engagement by theme, share of feed, premiums, trajectory) and benchmark your own profile. The data on this page is the product.

Where this data comes from

Everything in this article is MagicPost's own research, not a copied list. MagicPost analyzed 15,075 Business Development LinkedIn posts from the last 12 months, kept the 179 creators with at least 10 Business Development posts and 5,000 followers (deleted posts excluded, company pages excluded), and ranked them by median likes on their Business Development posts. We also computed each creator's share of feed, their Business Development premium versus their own overall median, engagement rates and conversation ratios. Rankings refresh as the data does; figures dated June 2026. No one paid to be on this list, and no one can: it is arithmetic.

Preguntas frecuentes

Who is the top Business Development creator on LinkedIn in 2026?

By real impact (median likes on Business Development posts over the last 12 months), Justin Welsh: 2,285 median likes per Business Development post, 1.8 times the number two (Chris Donnelly) and 82 times the typical Business Development post on LinkedIn.

How is this ranking calculated?

Median likes on each creator's Business Development posts over the last 12 months, among the 179 creators MagicPost analyzes with at least 10 Business Development posts and 5,000 followers. Median, not average, so one viral post cannot buy a spot, and only Business Development posts count, so general fame cannot either.

Does posting about Business Development boost engagement on LinkedIn?

It depends who you are. Some creators earn a real premium on the theme (Cynthia Barnes +89%, Chris Donnelly +25%, Johannes Kliesch +47%), while the biggest accounts take a discount because their baseline is so high (Justin Welsh -25%, Codie A. Sanchez -40%). The effect is strongest for tourists whose feed is mostly about something else. But the typical Business Development post still earns just 28 likes: the topic rewards clarity, not participation.

Who are the most efficient Business Development creators?

By engagement rate on Business Development posts (median likes / followers, minimum 20k followers): Tim Hillison (1.21%), ahead of Emily D. (0.72%), Greg Portnoy (0.59%), Nick Saraev (0.58%) and Luke Redhead (0.56%). The efficiency list is built on small, dense audiences rather than the household names.

Are the top Business Development voices full-time Business Development creators?

Almost none. Only 3 of the 179 eligible creators dedicate more than half their feed to Business Development, and the top 20 has exactly one resident, Ben Kelly (58%). Everyone else is a tourist for whom Business Development is a sideline to founder-building, sales, or personal-brand content.

Which countries dominate Business Development content on LinkedIn?

The United States leads this top 20, with the United Kingdom placing several names (Jordan Lee, Adam J. Graham, Tom Mills, Sara Davies), and Germany, France, Canada, Sweden, Italy and Serbia each contributing one. Country-by-country rankings are in our country series.
