What is MCP, and what can I do with it?
MagicPost speaks MCP, the Model Context Protocol, the standard that lets an AI assistant use an outside tool. Connect it once, and Claude or Perplexity can drive your MagicPost account in plain language. If the concept is new to you, what a LinkedIn MCP server is and what it lets you do explains the idea before the how-to.
> *"Summarise my LinkedIn performance over the last 30 days, then draft a post about the theme that worked best and schedule it for Tuesday at 9am."*
One sentence. Your assistant reads your metrics, writes the post in your style, and puts it in the calendar.
Why this is different from copy-pasting into ChatGPT
Pasting your post into a chatbot gives you a generic answer from a model that knows nothing about you.
Through MCP, the assistant reaches your actual data: your real metrics, your writing style, your drafts, your leads. It does not guess what worked. It looks. And it does not hand you text to paste back; it can create the draft and schedule it for you.
The 25 MagicPost MCP tools
The MagicPost MCP server exposes 25 tools, across six areas. Your assistant picks the right ones on its own. You never name them.
Posts: generate a draft in your own style, create, update, list and fetch your posts.
Scheduling: schedule a post, cancel a scheduled one, or publish immediately.
Analytics: get a summary of your impressions, engagement and best posts over a period; trigger a fresh LinkedIn sync.
Writing style and inspiration: list the styles you have imported, search the global catalogue for creators to learn from, add one as a style, and search high-performing posts by topic, creator or format.
Leads *(needs the Leads module)*: list and update your leads, see your ICPs, launch a detection, check your quota and your credits.
Team *(organisation super-admins)*: list members, read team metrics, browse and schedule posts on behalf of a member.
Things worth asking
*"How did my posts perform over the last 30 days? What theme worked best?"*
*"Find me three high-performing posts about [topic] and draft one in my style."*
*"What's in my calendar this week?"*
*"Which of my leads are an excellent fit and still uncontacted?"*
*"Schedule my latest draft for Tuesday morning."*
For agencies: *"Give me each client's impressions this month, as a table."*
The last one is where this earns its keep: a report that would take twenty minutes of clicking becomes one question. Managing multiple LinkedIn accounts through MCP goes through what that looks like day to day.
What it costs
Nothing extra. API and MCP access is included in the Creator plan (€59/month) and above, at no additional cost. It is not available on the Analytics plan.
Two things do consume what they normally consume: generating a post uses a generation credit, and launching a lead detection spends Leads credits, exactly as in the app. Your assistant can spend your credits, so be as deliberate as you would be clicking the buttons yourself.
Getting connected
Create an API key: see How to create an API key.
Connect your assistant: see How to connect MagicPost to Claude or How to connect MagicPost to Perplexity.
ChatGPT and Gemini cannot connect to MagicPost today. Both require an MCP server to authenticate over OAuth, and MagicPost authenticates with an API key. Claude and Perplexity accept that key, which is why they work. The detail, and where support stands, is in the Perplexity article.
The REST API
If you would rather write code than chat, everything is available over plain HTTP at `https://api.magicpost.in/api/v1/`, with the same key sent as a bearer token.
MagicPost allows up to 10 active API keys per account and 60 requests per minute per key (5 per minute on the LinkedIn refresh and the lead detection, which are expensive).

FAQ
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Connecting Claude or Perplexity is a copy-paste, and after that you just talk to it.
Can my assistant publish to LinkedIn without asking me?
It can, if you ask it to. Assistants normally show you what they are about to do and wait for confirmation, but treat the connection as full access to your account, because that is what it is.
Which plan do I need?
Creator and above. The Leads tools also need the Leads module, and the team tools need you to be an organisation super-admin.
