How to connect MagicPost to Perplexity

You can connect MagicPost to Perplexity through the MagicPost MCP server, with a MagicPost API key. You create the key in MagicPost, then add https://mcp.magicpost.in/mcp to Perplexity as a custom connector with API key authentication. On the MagicPost side, you need one of the Creator, Agency, and Team plans or an active free trial.

Once MagicPost is connected, Perplexity can read your LinkedIn metrics, write and schedule posts and work on your leads when you ask in plain language.

Before you connect MagicPost to Perplexity

  • MagicPost access. The MagicPost MCP server is open on the Creator, Agency, and Team plans, during the free trial, and for members of a Agency or Team organization. The Growth plan does not include it. On Agency, a member with a Growth, Analytics or Engagement seat has no access: the Creator seat, which has full access, includes it.

  • Perplexity access. Adding a custom connector to Perplexity may require a paid Perplexity plan. Perplexity sets these conditions, not MagicPost: check the Perplexity help center.

  • Address of the MagicPost MCP server. https://mcp.magicpost.in/mcp

Connect MagicPost to Perplexity

  1. In MagicPost, open the profile menu, select Settings, then open the API & MCP tab.

  2. Click Create a key, name the key, for example "Perplexity", and click Create.

  3. In the API key created window, click Copy next to the key. Then open the Perplexity tab of the same window: it gives the address of the MagicPost MCP server.

  4. In Perplexity, add a custom connector with API key authentication. The names of the Perplexity menus belong to Perplexity and can change: the Perplexity help center has the current path.

  5. Enter the address https://mcp.magicpost.in/mcp and paste your MagicPost key as the API key.

  6. If Perplexity asks for a transport, choose Streamable HTTP. The MagicPost MCP server uses this transport.

  7. Save the connector in Perplexity, then click I've copied it, close in MagicPost.

MagicPost shows the full API key only once, in the API key created window. If you closed the window before copying the key, create a new one: see How to create an API key.

What to ask Perplexity once MagicPost is connected

You ask Perplexity in plain language, and Perplexity picks the MagicPost tools on its own. For example:

  • "How did my LinkedIn posts perform this month?"

  • "Find high-performing posts about this topic and draft one in my style."

  • "What is in my publishing calendar this week?"

Perplexity acts with full access to your MagicPost account. A post generated by Perplexity uses your post generation allowance, and a lead detection started by Perplexity spends Leads credits, as in the MagicPost app. Perplexity can also publish on your LinkedIn account if you ask for it.

FAQ

Do I need a MagicPost API key to connect Perplexity?

Yes. The MagicPost app sets up the Perplexity connection with an API key that you create in Settings, API & MCP. Claude on the web, ChatGPT and Gemini connect with a MagicPost sign-in and no key: see How to connect MagicPost to ChatGPT and How to connect MagicPost to Gemini.

Perplexity says the MagicPost connector failed. What should I check?

Check three things. The address is exactly https://mcp.magicpost.in/mcp. The authentication is set to API key, with the whole MagicPost key, which starts with mp_. The transport is Streamable HTTP. If all three are right, check in MagicPost, under Settings, API & MCP, that your MagicPost key still appears among the active keys.

Perplexity was connected to MagicPost and no longer works. Why?

The MagicPost API key is no longer accepted. Either the key was revoked in Settings, API & MCP, or the MagicPost account lost API access, for example at the end of the free trial. Create a new key in MagicPost and replace the old one in the Perplexity connector.

Why is there no API & MCP tab in my MagicPost settings?

MagicPost hides the API & MCP tab on the Growth plan and for a member of a Agency organization with a Growth, Analytics or Engagement seat. API keys are included in the Creator, Agency, and Team plans.
