The biggest mistake Indian LinkedIn users make is following a global study without converting it. Buffer or Sprout tells you "post at 10am," they mean 10am New York, and that lands at 7:30pm IST, well past India's peak. So most "best time" advice is quietly off by half a day for India.
At MagicPost, we measured India directly: 220,220 posts, in IST. The answer is a weekday morning, around 8am IST, before the mid-morning rush. Everything below is India Standard Time (UTC+5:30), which is the whole country, so there is no zone confusion to worry about.
The best hours to post on LinkedIn in India
Here is the Indian weekday, hour by hour, ranked:

The morning is the clear winner. Engagement peaks at 8am (81 out of 100), stays strong at 9am, then eases into a flatter plateau through the working day. The early-morning commute-and-coffee window, before the workday swallows everyone, is when posts do best.
So the simple rule for India: post around 8am IST on a weekday.
The five best weekday windows in India
The specific best slots back this up, and they are remarkably consistent: all early-week mornings:

Rank | Window (IST) | Score |
1 | Monday 9am | 100 |
2 | Monday 8am | 96 |
3 | Wednesday 8am | 96 |
4 | Friday 8am | 88 |
5 | Monday 10am | 88 |
Every one of them is a weekday between 8am and 10am. That is about as consistent a signal as this data gives, so you can trust it: early-week mornings, 8am to 10am IST.
The trick: post before the crowd
Here is the most useful pattern in the India data. The hour when the most people post is later than the hour when posts do best.

Indian posting volume peaks at 10am: that is when most people publish. But posts perform best at 8am, two hours ahead of the crowd. By the time the 10am wave hits and the feed is crowded, the average post does worse than it would have at 8am.
LinkedIn shows a new post to a first batch of people and expands reach if they engage. At 10am you are competing with everyone else's 10am post for that first read. At 8am you are early, the feed is lighter, and you get a cleaner start. Beat the rush by an hour or two.
The full week at a glance
The complete India picture, every day and hour, colored by how well posts perform:

The morning column lights up on weekdays, and the rest of the grid is calmer. Evenings and the weekend are quiet, which fits a market that uses LinkedIn for work, during work hours.
What about the best day in India?
For India, the hour does more work than the day, but the early-week lean is real: Monday and the midweek block carry the strongest mornings. The broader pattern, measured by reach across all countries, also points to early week, with Tuesday on top. See the best day to post on LinkedIn.
Put together for India: a weekday, around 8am IST.
Compare with other countries
Timing is local, and 8am in India is a completely different moment from 8am anywhere else:
One honest reminder: this is correlation, not a guarantee. Good timing helps a good post travel faster. It will not save a weak one.

Where this data comes from
Everything in this article is MagicPost's own research, not a converted version of a US study. MagicPost analyzed 220,220 Indian LinkedIn posts directly in IST, compared each post to its author's usual engagement so big accounts do not skew the picture, and refreshed the numbers in May 2026. The same dataset powers the posting-time recommendations built into MagicPost.
SSS
What is the best time to post on LinkedIn in India?
A weekday morning, around 8am IST. That is the peak for engagement, and it sits before the 10am rush when most people post and competition is highest.
Why not just follow a global "best time to post" study?
Because global studies are usually in US or UK time. "10am" in a US study is roughly 7:30pm IST, long after India's real peak. Always convert to IST, or use India-specific data like this.
Is 10am a bad time to post in India?
Not bad, just crowded. 10am is when the most people post, so you compete hardest then. Posting at 8am, ahead of the wave, performs better in our India data.
What is the best day to post on LinkedIn in India?
The hour matters more than the day, but early-week mornings (Monday and midweek) are strongest. See our best day guide for the cross-country picture.
How was this measured?
We compared each post's likes to its own author's typical likes (so follower count does not distort it) across 220,220 India posts, scored every day-and-hour slot from 0 to 100 in IST, and refreshed the data in May 2026.
