How to use writing parameters?
|MagicPost writing settings are the defaults the AI applies when it generates a post: tone, emojis, length, formality, gender, expression and language. The settings are saved on your MagicPost account, and you can change them before any generation. Writing settings are part of AI post generation, included in Creator, Agency, and Team and in the free trial.
Where to find the writing settings
MagicPost shows the writing settings in several places. A change made in one place applies everywhere, and MagicPost saves it as soon as you pick a value.
In the knowledge base. Open the profile menu, click Knowledge base, then click Settings in the How you write card. The Writing settings dialog opens.
In the generator. Open New post, then the Generator tab, and unfold Settings under the form.
In the editor. Open the Edit with AI panel and click the settings icon at the top of the panel. A Writing settings popover opens.
On the Hooks page. The settings icon inside the topic field opens AI settings, with tone, emoji, formality, gender, expression and language. The length setting is not in that menu.
The MagicPost account page named Settings, in the profile menu, does not contain the writing settings. That page holds your account preferences, your LinkedIn connection, notifications and security.
Tone
MagicPost offers five fixed tones for generated posts.
Standard: the standard tone adapted for LinkedIn.
Conversational: an informal and rather direct tone.
Engaging: a tone that involves the reader and encourages exchange.
Formal: a professional tone for formal environments.
Humorous: a tone with subtle humor and quirky metaphors.
When a writing style is active, MagicPost adds one more tone at the top of the list, named after the imported profile and based on its style. See how to import a writing style.
Emojis and length
The MagicPost Emojis setting has three levels: none, moderate or many. With an active writing style, a fourth option, Adapted, follows the emoji habits of that style.
The MagicPost Length setting has four values: Very short, Short, Recommended and Long. The list shows the approximate word count of each value. With an active writing style, one more option matches the usual length of the imported profile's posts. That option is called Your voice when the style is your own.
Language, formality and gender
The MagicPost Language setting is the language of your generated posts, not the language of the interface. Seven languages are preset: English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German and Dutch. English, French, Spanish and Portuguese also offer regional variants, such as American or British English.
For another language, open the MagicPost Language list, click Other language and search the list. A language that is not in the MagicPost list cannot be selected: the search then shows No results found.
MagicPost shows two more settings for French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German and Dutch. They do not appear for English.
Formality: Informal or Formal address.
Gender: No preference, Feminine or Masculine. MagicPost uses it to agree the words you write about yourself in the first person.
Expression
The MagicPost Expression setting chooses whether the post speaks as "I" or as "We". The third value, No preference, sets no constraint.

FAQ
I changed a setting in the generator. Does it only apply to this post?
No. A MagicPost writing setting is saved on your account as soon as you change it, wherever you change it. The new value stays for your next generations until you change it again.
Where did "AI Settings" go in the profile menu?
The MagicPost profile menu no longer has an AI settings entry. The writing settings moved to the Knowledge base, in the How you write card, and they are also in the generator.
Why don't I see the Formality and Gender settings?
MagicPost only shows Formality and Gender when the selected language is French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German or Dutch. With English, or a language picked through Other language, the two settings are hidden.
Why don't I see a tone with my name?
The tone named after a profile only exists while a writing style is active. Import a style, or switch your style back on in the MagicPost Writing style menu.
Can I choose the AI model MagicPost writes with?
No. The MagicPost writing settings do not include a choice of AI model.
