Can I add a media to my post? (image, carousel, video...)
Yes. In MagicPost, you can attach images, a GIF, one video or one PDF document to a LinkedIn post, then schedule or publish the post with its media. Adding media is part of the MagicPost editor, which is included in the Growth, Creator, Agency, and Team plans and in the free trial. On Agency, a member on an Engagement seat has no access to the MagicPost editor.
Creating a visual, a carousel or a photo with AI from the same menu is a separate feature. AI media creation in MagicPost is included in the Creator, Agency, and Team plans. On a plan without it, such as Growth, the three AI entries show a lock and open an upgrade prompt.
Where to add media in MagicPost
In MagicPost, you add media with the Add media button, the image icon in the toolbar under the post text. The MagicPost editor opens in three places, and the button is the same in each:
New post, on the Editor tab.
Posts, when you open a draft or a scheduled post.
Calendar, when you open a post.
On a desktop screen, the MagicPost Posts list has a media column. A post that has no media and no poll shows a + button there, labelled Add on wide screens, which opens the same menu.
Add an image, a video or a PDF to a post
Write your post in the MagicPost editor. The post must exist before it can carry media: on an empty editor, MagicPost answers "Your post doesn't have enough content yet."
Click Add media.
Choose Image, Video or Carousel / PDF, then select the file on your device. You can select several images at once, but only one video or one PDF.
Wait for the upload to finish. MagicPost confirms with "Media added to the post" and shows the media under your text.
After you add a video or a PDF, MagicPost opens a window to set its title. See how to add a title to uploaded media.
What the Add media menu contains
The MagicPost Add media menu has two parts: media you create with AI, and media you already have.
Create with AI: Visual, Carousel and Photo. Each entry opens the creation flow with your post as the source, so the result can be attached to that post.
Library: pick a media already stored in MagicPost. The picker lists your imported images, AI photos, visuals and carousels, and its GIF tab searches a GIF catalog. The picker does not list the videos, documents and GIF files you imported.
Image, Video and Carousel / PDF: upload a file from your device.
A file you upload from the MagicPost editor is also saved in your media library, so you can reuse it in another post. See how to use the media library.
On the Agency plan, a member on a Growth or Analytics seat does not see the Create with AI part of the MagicPost Add media menu. Those specialized seats do not include AI media creation, which needs a standard Creator seat.
Formats and limits
MagicPost accepts these file types when you add media to a post from the editor:
Images: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, BMP, HEIC, HEIF and AVIF. A post holds up to 9 images.
Video: MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM and WMV. A post holds one video.
Document: PDF only. A post holds one PDF, which LinkedIn displays as a carousel.
A MagicPost post carries one kind of media: images, or one video, or one PDF. Choosing Image, Video or Carousel / PDF in the menu replaces the media already on the post. To add images to an existing set, click Edit on the media, then Add an image.
MagicPost converts HEIC and HEIF photos to JPEG during the upload. You do not need to convert them yourself.
MagicPost refuses a file above its maximum size and states the limit in the error message. For a heavy file below that limit, MagicPost shows a Large file warning: the upload may take some time and the publication may be slightly delayed. Click Continue to upload the file anyway.
At upload, MagicPost checks the file type and the file size only. MagicPost does not check the duration or the codec of a video. LinkedIn processes the file when the post is published, and LinkedIn can refuse it.
What you cannot combine
Media and a poll. When a MagicPost post has a poll, the Add media button is disabled. When the post has media, the Poll button is disabled. See how to add a poll to a LinkedIn post.
Media on a repost. On a repost, the Add media button is disabled.
Media on a published post. MagicPost cannot change the media of a post that is already on LinkedIn. In the editor of a published post, the Add media button is disabled and the media has no Edit button.
Media check before publication
For a scheduled post, MagicPost tests the media with LinkedIn before the publication time. If the test fails, the MagicPost Posts list shows a red warning on the media of that post.
In the MagicPost Posts list, hover the red warning on the media of a scheduled post to read why the media check failed. MagicPost currently writes that reason in French, whatever the language of your interface. Fix or replace the media, then click Retry the test. If the message asks you to reconnect LinkedIn, reconnect your LinkedIn account first.
For how scheduling works in MagicPost, see the LinkedIn post scheduler.
FAQ
Can I add several images to one MagicPost post?
Yes, up to 9 images per post. Select several files at once with Image, or add more later with Edit then Add an image. When the post is full, that entry reads "Maximum 9 images per post".
Can I mix images and a video in the same post?
No. A MagicPost post carries images, or one video, or one PDF. Adding a video or a PDF from the menu replaces the images already on the post.
Why is the Add media button greyed out?
The MagicPost Add media button is disabled in three cases: the post has a poll, the post is a repost, or the post is already published. The button is also inactive while an AI edit is running on the post.
Why do Visual, Carousel and Photo show a lock?
Your plan does not include AI media creation. In MagicPost, creating visuals, carousels and photos with AI is included in the Creator, Agency, and Team plans. Uploading your own files stays available. If you are on the former Analytics or Starter plan, see the Analytics and Starter plans.
Can I add a GIF to a MagicPost post?
Yes. Upload a GIF file with Image, or open Library and search the GIF tab. A GIF picked in the library replaces the media already on the post, after a confirmation.
What is the maximum file size?
MagicPost applies a maximum size per file. The limit is written in the error message MagicPost shows when a file is too large. LinkedIn also applies its own limits on weight and duration, which MagicPost does not check at upload.
