How to find a post hook?
|In MagicPost, you find a hook on the Hooks page: type a topic, or pick one of your posts, and MagicPost generates a batch of hooks written in your voice. You can then turn a hook into a post, put it at the top of an existing draft, or save it. The hook generator is included in Creator, Agency, and Team and in the free trial.
A hook is the opening of a LinkedIn post, the lines a reader sees before clicking "see more".
How to generate hooks from a topic
In the MagicPost sidebar, under Create, click Hooks. The page opens on the tab you used last, and on Generate the first time. Click Generate if another tab is shown.
Type your topic in the field What are you writing about?
Optional: pick a hook type under the field. MagicPost offers Auto, Story, Teasing, Question, Number and Scene. With Auto, MagicPost chooses the types itself.
Click Generate hooks.
To get another batch on the same topic, click Regenerate. MagicPost keeps the earlier batches of that topic, and a version counter above the results lets you go back to them. On the empty Generate tab, the Recent hooks button reopens the batches of your previous topics.
The settings icon inside the topic field opens your MagicPost AI settings and writing style, so the hooks follow the same voice as your posts.
How to get new hooks for a post you already wrote
On the Generate tab of the MagicPost Hooks page, click From a post.
Pick one of your drafts or scheduled posts in the list, or paste a text in Or paste your post here.
Click Generate hooks.
If you picked a post from the list, click Use in this post on the hook you prefer. MagicPost opens the post and replaces its hook with the one you chose.
With a pasted text, MagicPost has no post to update: the hooks keep the Generate a post and copy actions described below.
The From a post button is not shown on small screens. Published posts are not in the list, because replacing the hook rewrites the content of the post.

What you can do with a generated hook
Generate a post: MagicPost opens New post with your topic filled in and the hook set as the custom hook of the generation.
Copy: the copy icon puts the hook in your clipboard.
Save to my library: the bookmark icon keeps the hook in the Library tab.
The Library and Creators tabs
The MagicPost Hooks page has two more tabs next to Generate.
Library holds the hooks you saved, sorted into Generated, My hooks and Creators. The Add a hook button stores a hook you wrote yourself.
Creators lists hooks from LinkedIn creators, filtered by creator and by language. On a creator's hook, Adapt to my voice rewrites it for your topic.

How hook generations are counted
MagicPost counts hook generations, not individual hooks. One batch of hooks is one generation, and one adaptation of a creator's hook is one generation. Hook generations do not use post credits.
During the free trial, a gauge in the header of the MagicPost Hooks page shows the generations used this month. When an account reaches its limit, MagicPost shows a message above the topic field and disables the Generate hooks button.
On the Creator and Agency plans of the current MagicPost pricing grid, hook generation has no monthly cap. A paid subscription started on an earlier MagicPost price grid keeps a monthly limit on hook generations. Outside the free trial, no gauge shows that limit: MagicPost displays You've reached your monthly hook generation limit. only once the limit is reached.
FAQ
Does generating hooks cost a credit?
No. Hook generation in MagicPost has its own counter, separate from post generation. One batch of hooks counts as one hook generation.
Why does the Hooks page open on an upgrade window?
Your plan does not include the hook generator. On the Growth plan, the Hooks entry of the MagicPost sidebar shows a padlock, and the page opens behind an Unlock the hook generator upgrade window. The hook generator is included in Creator, Agency, and Team. On a specialized organization seat without hooks, the Hooks entry is locked or missing, and only an administrator of the organization can change the seat.
MagicPost says "Hook generation is available on paid plans". Why?
Your account is free and outside the free trial. A free MagicPost account can only generate hooks during the trial. After that, hook generation requires one of these plans: Creator, Agency, and Team.
Can I ask for a "contrast" hook?
No. The hook types offered by MagicPost are Story, Teasing, Question, Number and Scene, plus Auto. You do not need to describe the type in your topic: pick it under the field.
