How to connect MagicPost to Gemini

Gemini can drive your MagicPost account too: read your metrics, write posts in your style, schedule them, work your leads, all by asking in plain language.

The connection runs on OAuth: no API key to create. You add MagicPost as a custom app, sign in, approve.

Where this works, and where it does not

Gemini takes custom MCP servers through custom apps for Gemini Spark, its agent mode. That comes with Google's conditions, not ours:

• You need access to Gemini Spark, and the connected app works in Spark, not in a regular Gemini chat.

• A personal Google account. Work and school accounts are excluded.

• Google currently limits custom apps to users 18 or over, in the US, with Keep Activity enabled, and custom apps run in English.

• Setup happens in the web app at gemini.google.com; once connected, it works on mobile as well.

If that rules you out, Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity have no such restrictions.

You also need a MagicPost Creator plan or above, or an active trial.

Add MagicPost as a custom app

1. On your computer, go to gemini.google.com.

2. At the bottom, click Settings & help, then Connected apps.

3. Under Custom apps for Spark, click Add a custom app.

4. Enter the MCP server URL: https://mcp.magicpost.in/mcp

5. Click Next. A MagicPost page opens: sign in if asked, read what Gemini is requesting (create, schedule and publish LinkedIn posts; read your drafts and stats), and click Authorise.

No need to open the advanced credentials fields: MagicPost registers itself automatically.

Behind the scenes, the authorisation creates an API key on your account. You can see it, and revoke it, in your MagicPost account settings, tab API & MCP. Revoking it cuts Gemini off instantly.

Try it

In Gemini Spark, ask something you would otherwise click through:

• "How did my LinkedIn posts perform over the last 30 days?"

• "Find high-performing posts about [topic] and draft one in my style."

• "What's in my publishing calendar this week?"

You never name the tools. Gemini picks them.

When it does not work

I don't see Custom apps for Spark. You do not have access to Gemini Spark yet, you are signed in with a work or school account, or you are outside the US. Google's rules, and they change: check back, or use Claude or ChatGPT in the meantime.

MagicPost does not respond in a normal chat. Custom apps work in Gemini Spark, not in the regular Gemini conversation.

MagicPost refuses the authorisation. API and MCP access needs a Creator plan or above, or an active trial. Upgrade, then connect again.

Good to know

Gemini can spend your credits: generating a post uses a generation credit, launching a lead detection uses Leads credits, exactly as in the app. Read what it proposes before you approve it.

Which plan do I need?

Creator and above on the MagicPost side. Leads tools also need the Leads module.

Can Gemini publish to my LinkedIn?

Yes, if you ask it to. Treat the connection as full access to your account, because that is what it is.
