How to edit a post with AI (and keep it sounding like you)
|The MagicPost editor can rewrite a post with AI in two ways: an AI button on any passage you select, and an Edit with AI panel where you describe the change you want. Both work on any draft, generated by MagicPost or written by hand. AI editing is included in Creator, Agency, and Team and in the free trial. It is locked on the Growth plan.
Rework a selected passage
In the MagicPost editor, select a passage: a toolbar appears with an AI button. The button opens six actions, and only the selected passage changes.
Rephrase: same idea, different wording.
Punchier: tighter and more direct.
Shorten: same substance, fewer words.
Expand: develops the point.
Proofread: fixes spelling and grammar.
Custom...: opens a field where you type your own instruction for the passage.
When the selected passage is the hook of the post, the MagicPost AI menu also shows New hooks at the top.
If the selection contains an @mention, MagicPost warns you: The AI action will remove the selected mention. Keep mentions out of the selection, or add the mention again after the rewrite.
Ask for any change in the Edit with AI panel
The purple button at the bottom of the MagicPost editor opens the Edit with AI panel. Type what you want in the Request a change... field, for example "rewrite the hook, keep the story" or "end with a question". MagicPost applies the change to the post and lists what it changed in the panel.
The MagicPost Edit with AI panel also has quick actions:
Generate new version: rewrites the whole post. On a post opened from Inspirations, this action is named Adapt to my style.
New hooks: proposes several opening lines, and you choose one in the editor.
New CTAs: proposes several endings, and you choose one in the editor.
Reduce the length: shortens the post.
Humanize the post: rewrites the AI phrasing of the draft. See below.
The settings icon at the top of the MagicPost panel opens your Writing settings and your writing style, so an AI edit follows the same tone as your generations.
Undo an AI edit
Each change applied by the MagicPost Edit with AI panel is marked Applied and has an Undo link that undoes it. The panel then shows Change undone and a Reapply link. To go further back, the clock icon at the bottom of the editor restores an earlier version of the post. See how to edit a post.
Short texts in the Editor tab
In the Editor tab of New post, MagicPost treats a very short text as a topic, not as a draft. The purple button then reads Transform with AI and offers Turn into a post. The Edit with AI panel takes over once the text is long enough. The tooltip of the menu gives the word threshold. Turn into a post is a post generation, not an AI edit.
Humanizer and Humanize the post: two tools, two moments
MagicPost reduces AI-sounding phrasing at two different moments. Neither tool guarantees that a post cannot be detected as AI-written.
Humanizer works while MagicPost generates a post. It is set in the generator, under Advanced options, and it is on by default. Humanizer has three intensity levels:
True to your style: stays closest to your style, without reworking the phrasing.
Balanced: the recommended level, a balance between your style and less AI phrasing.
Maximum anti-detection: removes AI-detectable phrasing as much as possible.
Humanize the post works afterwards, on a draft that already exists. It is a quick action of the MagicPost Edit with AI panel: MagicPost scans the draft for AI phrasing and rewrites the passages it finds. MagicPost hides this action when the last scan found nothing left to fix.

AI edit quota
MagicPost counts AI edits on a daily quota, separate from post generation. Selection actions and requests in the Edit with AI panel count. An answer to a question you ask about the draft in the panel counts as one AI edit too.
After a few AI edits, MagicPost shows a small gauge in the AI menu and in the Edit with AI panel with the edits remaining. When the quota is used up, an AI edit limit reached window tells you in how many hours the quota renews.
FAQ
Does an AI edit use a post generation credit?
No. MagicPost counts AI edits on their own daily quota. Editing an existing draft does not count as generating a post.
Can the AI edit a post I wrote entirely myself?
Yes. The MagicPost AI actions work on any text in the editor, whether MagicPost generated it or you typed it. The AI only changes what you ask it to change.
Why do the AI buttons show a lock?
Your plan does not include AI editing. The Growth plan closes AI edits: clicking a locked AI button opens an upgrade window. AI editing is included in Creator, Agency, and Team.
The AI buttons are missing or grayed out in my editor. Why?
There are three cases. You hold a specialized organization seat without AI: MagicPost removes the AI buttons from that seat instead of locking them, and only an administrator of the organization can change the seat. The post is a repost: MagicPost removes the purple AI button at the bottom of the editor on a repost, so the Edit with AI panel is not available. The AI button of the selection toolbar stays. Or the post is already published: the AI buttons at the bottom of the MagicPost editor are then disabled.
I reached the AI edit limit. What now?
Wait for the renewal. The MagicPost AI edit limit reached window gives the number of hours left. Editing the text by hand has no limit.
Why did an AI action remove my @mention?
A passage rewritten by AI is regenerated, and a mention inside it becomes plain text. MagicPost warns you before the action runs. Add the mention again afterwards, or leave it outside the selection.
I don't see "Humanize the post" in the panel. Why?
MagicPost hides Humanize the post when the last scan of the draft found no AI phrasing left to fix. The action also needs some text in the editor.
