How to create a visual from a customizable template
|In MagicPost, a customizable visual is a single image built on a template: a fixed layout that MagicPost fills with your content, and that you then edit by hand. You create one from the Visuals tab of the Media page. Creating a visual is included in Creator, Agency, and Team. The Growth plan does not include it.
On the MagicPost Agency plan, a member on a specialized seat type (Growth, Analytics or Engagement) has no media generation, so cannot create a visual. See Everything in the Agency plan.

Let AI fill a template from your content
MagicPost generates visuals in a full-screen wizard called Generate a visual. Its left rail lists four steps: Source, Design, Settings and Generation. A template visual uses the first two.
In the MagicPost sidebar, open Media under Manage, then the Visuals tab.
Click New visual, then Generate with AI.
On the Source step, select one of your posts. Under Or start from…, you can open A topic, A URL or A file instead.
Click Choose a design.
On the Design step, select the Templates segment, then pick a layout. Help me choose asks MagicPost to suggest layouts for your content.
In the right panel, pick a Style. The colors menu next to it shows Template colors by default, and also offers your brand kit styles and a Custom palette.
Click Generate visual. MagicPost fills the template from your source and opens the visual editor.
The MagicPost templates are grouped by category: Lists & tables, Data & numbers, Diagram, Short post and Quote. The Templates segment is described in the wizard as "Fixed layout, text filled by AI".
For a template of the Diagram category, MagicPost adds a Choose your layout screen after the generation. It shows the same content in several layouts. Pick one, then click Open in editor.
Start from a template without AI
In the Visuals tab, click New visual, then Start from a template.
Choose a layout, then a style.
Click Use this template.
With Start from a template, MagicPost opens the editor on the example text of the template, and you write your own text by hand. Nothing is generated, so it uses no generation.
Edit the visual
On a wide screen, the MagicPost visual editor shows the visual in the middle, the Copilot on the left and a panel with the Design and Identity tabs on the right. MagicPost saves your changes automatically.
Text. In the MagicPost visual editor, click a text on the visual and type. You can also drag a block of the visual to move it. Reset layout puts the blocks back in place.
Design tab. The Design tab of the MagicPost editor holds the My brand kit card, the current design, the Style, the Typography and the Colors. The card says "This visual follows your kit" or "This visual moves away from your kit", and Apply brings the visual back to a kit style.
Identity tab. The Identity tab sets the photo, logo, name and subtitle shown on this MagicPost visual. See how to set up my brand kit.
Copilot. In the MagicPost Copilot, type a request in the Request a change... field, or click a ready request such as Make the text more impactful, Shorten the text or Make the design darker. MagicPost changes the visual in place.
Preview. LinkedIn preview shows the MagicPost visual inside a LinkedIn post. Back to editing returns to the editor.
Change the design of a generated visual
On a MagicPost visual generated from a source, Change, in the Design tab, opens the Change design window. When the new template holds the same kind of content, the button is Apply this design: nothing is rewritten and nothing is counted.
When the new template needs another structure, the button is Regenerate with this design. MagicPost rewrites the content to fit, which counts as one generation. The previous design stays under Designs for this visual, and going back to it is free.
Export and publish
In the header of the MagicPost visual editor, Export downloads the visual as a JPEG image and saves it to your media library. Add to a post attaches it to a post. See how to add a carousel or visual to a LinkedIn post.
When your MagicPost plan sets a cap, each generation uses one generation and each Copilot change uses one AI edit. Editing by hand is never counted. The caps of each plan are in how many visuals and carousels can I generate.
FAQ
Can I change the size or ratio of a template visual?
No. A MagicPost visual built from a template is vertical, and the editor offers no format setting. Among MagicPost visuals, the choice between Vertical, Square and Horizontal exists only for AI visuals, on the Settings step of the wizard.
Is starting from a template free?
It uses no generation. In MagicPost, Start from a template copies the template into the editor without calling the AI. It still requires a plan that includes media generation: Creator, Agency, and Team.
Why is there no Change button on my visual?
MagicPost shows Change only on a visual generated from a source. A visual created with Start from a template has no source to adapt, so the button is absent. To use another layout, create a new visual from the Visuals tab.
Why is the Settings step greyed out in the wizard?
The Settings step of the MagicPost wizard only applies to AI visuals. With a template, you generate directly from the Design step with Generate visual.
Can I use my own design as a template?
Only if your account is in the beta. In the MagicPost wizard, the Custom segment reproduces one of your visuals with new content. An account outside the beta sees "Custom designs are not yet available on your account."
