Finding the right template in the library
|The MagicPost template library is a set of ready-made post templates written by the MagicPost team. It is the Library tab of the template picker, in the Templates mode of the generator. Generating a post from a library template is part of AI post generation, included in Creator, Agency, and Team and open during the free trial.
How to open the MagicPost template library
In the MagicPost sidebar, click New post, then open the Generator tab.
At the top of the generator, switch from Standard to Templates.
Click the Template field. The template picker opens.
Select the Library tab. The number next to the tab name is the number of templates in the library today.
When you have no template of your own, the MagicPost template picker opens on the Library tab directly.
Types and families in the MagicPost library
Every template of the MagicPost library has a type, and each type has its own color:
Actionable: you teach something. Families include Method, Tip and Mistakes to avoid.
Inspiring: you tell a story. Families include My story and The aha moment.
Promotional: you announce something. Families include Launch, Recruitment and Case study.
Introspective: you take a position. Families include Contrarian, Common misconception and Trend.
A family is a finer category inside a type. It tells you what a MagicPost library template is for. The picker lists only the families that have templates in the library at that moment.
How to browse the MagicPost library
Left column. The library is grouped by Families by default. Click Group by at the top of the column to switch to Types. Click an entry to show only that group, or All to show every template.
Search. The Search for a template field matches the title and the text of the templates.
Sort by. The library is sorted by Name by default. Choose Uses to put the templates you have used most first. When the selection covers several families, as with All, a whole type or Favorites, the MagicPost library stays split into family groups in a fixed order, and the sort applies inside each family group. The list is a single sorted list only when one family is selected in the left column.
Two views. Two icons at the top of the picker switch between a grid of cards, shown by default, and a list with a preview panel on the right.
In the grid view of the MagicPost template picker, click a card to read the whole template. In the list view, hover a row to preview the template as a LinkedIn post, and click the row to keep the preview on it. In both views, the parts to customize appear as purple chips.
On mobile, the MagicPost template picker has no left column. A filter button next to the search field replaces it, and only the grid of cards is available.
How to pick a template from the library
Click the card of the template, or its row in the list view.
Click Use this template.
The MagicPost template picker closes and the template title appears in the Template field of the generator. The next steps are in how to generate a post from a template.
Favorites
Click the star of a MagicPost template to mark it as a favorite. A Favorites entry then appears at the top of the left column of that tab, and it lists your starred templates. Click the star again to remove the template from your favorites.
How to adapt a library template
A template of the MagicPost library cannot be edited directly. You duplicate it and edit your copy:
Open the three-dot menu of the library template and click Duplicate.
In the Template duplicated window, click Edit to change the copy now, or Later to keep it as is.
MagicPost adds the copy to your My templates tab. The original stays unchanged in the library. The copy of a MagicPost library template keeps the title and the text of the original, not its type or its family. To give the copy a type, open it with Edit and choose a Type.
The templates of the MagicPost library mark the parts to customize with curly braces, and the copy keeps them. MagicPost shows curly braces and square brackets as the same purple chips. See creating and organizing your own templates.
Language of the library templates
MagicPost shows the library templates in the language of your MagicPost interface, not in the language you selected for your posts. When a template has no version in your interface language, MagicPost shows its English version. The generated post is still written in the post language set in the generator.
In languages that have a formal and an informal form of address, MagicPost shows the formal version of a library template when your writing settings use the formal address and a formal version of that template exists.
FAQ
Can I edit a template of the MagicPost library?
No, not directly. Library templates are read-only. Click Duplicate in the menu of the template, then edit the copy in My templates.
How many templates does the MagicPost library contain?
The number changes as the MagicPost team maintains the library. The current number is shown next to the Library tab name in the template picker.
What does the number shown on a library template mean?
The number shown on a MagicPost library template is the number of times you have generated a post with that template. On a library template, MagicPost counts only your own uses, not those of other users. A template you have never used shows no number.
Which MagicPost plans can use the template library?
Generating a post from a library template is included in Creator, Agency, and Team, and in the free trial. The Growth plan does not include AI post generation.
