What are post templates?
A template is the skeleton of a post that works: its angle, its hook, its structure, its rhythm. You keep the shape and pour your own subject into it.
It is the difference between staring at a blank page and starting from something that has already proven it holds attention.
A template gives the form, not the content
This is the one thing to understand before anything else.
A template does not know what you want to say. You still give MagicPost a subject — a topic, a URL, a file — and the template decides what shape the post takes around it. Template without a subject produces nothing.
Think of it as the reverse of the Standard mode. In Standard mode you describe what you want to say and MagicPost chooses the form. In Templates mode you choose the form and MagicPost fits your subject to it.
What a template actually contains
Plain text, and nothing more. No hidden logic, no dynamic fields.
The parts meant to be swapped out are written between square brackets:
> The [number] mistakes that cost me [outcome].
>
> I made all of them. Here is what I would do differently.
>
> 1. [First mistake] — [what it cost]
Those bracketed sections show up as purple pills in every preview. They are markers for the AI and reminders for you — nothing more, nothing less.
Where templates come from
You have three sources, and they sit in three tabs of the template picker.
Bibliothèque — the 89 templates curated by MagicPost. Written and edited by our team, available in 7 languages, and adapted to whether you address your audience formally or informally. This is the fastest place to start.
Mes templates — your own. Created from scratch, saved from a post that caught your eye, or duplicated from the library and tweaked.
Équipe — templates an admin of your organisation has shared with everyone. Read-only, but you can duplicate one to make it yours.
When to use a template
Templates earn their keep on recurring posts. A new podcast episode, a job opening, a monthly recap, a customer story, a product launch — anything you will publish again in three weeks with different content.
They are also the fastest way to borrow a structure that works. See a post whose shape you admire? Save it as a template and reuse the structure with your own subject.
Where templates are less useful: a one-off post, a raw personal story, a reaction to something happening today. Those want Standard mode.
Getting started
Open the generator, switch the Mode de génération to Templates, and click into the picker. If you have never created a template, MagicPost opens straight on the library so you have something to work with.
FAQ
Does using a template cost more?
No. A generation in Templates mode costs 1 credit, exactly like a Standard one.
Will my posts all end up sounding the same?
Only if you use the same template every time. The template drives the structure; your subject, your tone and your writing style settings still drive the voice. And you control how closely the post follows the template — see *How to generate a post from a template*.
Do I need a specific plan?
No. Templates are available on every account.
