How to detect leads from a post
|In MagicPost Leads, a detection scans the people who liked or commented on one of your published LinkedIn posts and scores them against your ICPs. You launch it from the Posts tab of the Leads page with the Detect button. Leads is included in the Growth, Creator, Agency, and Team plans.
A MagicPost detection works only on posts published by your connected LinkedIn account. Collecting the people who engaged is free, and one credit is spent per lead detected, per ICP, with at least a Medium fit.

How to run a detection on a post
In MagicPost, open Leads, then the Posts tab.
Find the post and click Detect. The Detect leads dialog opens.
Check the ICPs to run the detection on. Every ICP that is ready is checked by default. An ICP already up to date or already running on this post cannot be checked.
Read the Available lead credits line, which shows the credits you have left.
Click Start detection.

One MagicPost detection analyzes a capped number of people. On a post with a very large number of likes and comments, a detection does not analyze everyone who engaged.
A MagicPost detection runs in the background, so you can leave the page. On the Leads page, the Lead detection panel at the bottom right follows the people being fetched and analyzed, then the number of new leads. When the detection is over, click View leads.
One detection at a time
MagicPost runs one detection at a time per account. While a detection is running, the buttons of the other posts are disabled, with the tooltip "A post is already being analyzed".
To stop a running MagicPost detection, click Cancel next to the In progress indicator of the post. A canceled detection does not count as a failure: the post shows Detect again, unless a detection on another ICP is already done on that post. If a detection stays stuck, MagicPost releases it on its own so that you can start again.
What the Posts tab shows for each post
Detect: the post has likes or comments and was never scanned.
No interaction: nobody liked or commented on the post yet, so there is nothing to scan.
In progress: a detection is running on the post.
View leads: the detection is done and found leads. The button opens the post, with a Leads tab and an Engagers tab.
No match with your ICP, or No match when your account has more than one ICP that is ready and not archived: the detection is done and found no lead.
Sync: new people engaged with the post since the last detection.
Re-run: you edited the ICP since the last detection on the post.
Retry: the last detection failed. A detection you canceled does not show Retry.

Syncing a post that got new reactions
A LinkedIn post keeps receiving likes and comments after a detection. When new people engaged, MagicPost shows the Sync button on the post, with the number of new reactions.
A MagicPost sync scores only the new people. A profile already scored on an ICP is not scored again on that ICP and is not charged again, so a sync costs credits only for the leads it adds.
A MagicPost sync has one exception. If you regenerated an ICP since the last detection on the post, the sync also scores again the leads whose fit level is out of date, at up to one credit each. The Detect leads dialog opened by Sync does not announce that cost and has no switch to skip it.
Re-running a detection after an ICP edit
When you edited an ICP after the last detection on a post, MagicPost shows Re-run on the post, or the link ICP updated, re-run if the post already has leads. Both open the Re-run detection dialog, which lists:
The profiles already scored, which are kept and not charged again.
The profiles to re-evaluate, with a switch. Re-evaluating them is optional and costs up to one credit per profile.
The cost of new leads: one credit per lead with at least a Medium fit.
Your credits left.
If you turn the switch off in the MagicPost Re-run detection dialog, those leads keep the fit level computed with the older description of the ICP.
Posts not scanned with every ICP
On a post whose detection is done, MagicPost can show a small link with the number of ICPs not scanned. It means you ran the detection on some of your ICPs only. The post is up to date for those ICPs: click the link to run the detection on the others.
FAQ
Which interactions does MagicPost collect?
Likes and comments. MagicPost Leads does not collect the people who reposted your post.
Can I detect leads on a post that is not mine?
No. A MagicPost detection runs only on posts published by your connected LinkedIn account. A post you reshared without adding your own text is not listed in the Posts tab.
Why did a detection find no leads?
Because none of the people analyzed became a new lead. MagicPost gives three possible reasons: the people were already detected, they are off-target, or their fit is below Medium. A detection that finds no lead costs no credit.
Why is the Start detection button disabled?
In MagicPost, Start detection is disabled when no ICP is checked or when you have no credits left. At zero credits, the dialog shows a Buy credits link. See understanding and buying Leads credits.
The detection failed. What do I do?
Click Retry on the post in the MagicPost Posts tab. If the detection fails again, contact support.
Does a detection also run on posts published outside MagicPost?
Yes. The MagicPost Posts tab lists the posts of your connected LinkedIn account, and you can click Detect on any of them that has likes or comments.
