Understanding lead detection statuses

In the MagicPost Leads module, each post shows where its lead detection stands, and each lead shows where its scoring stands. This article lists the status labels of the Posts tab, the Detect leads dialog, the post detail panel and the Leads list, what each label means, and what to do next. The Leads module is included in the Growth, Creator, Agency, and Team plans and in the free trial. In an organization, the member needs a seat that includes Leads.

One rule explains most Leads statuses in MagicPost: one credit is spent per lead detected with at least a Medium fit, per ICP. Likes and comments are collected and pre-qualified for free, and a profile that is analyzed then set aside costs nothing either. See understanding and buying Leads credits. Post statuses in the Posts tab

In the Posts tab of MagicPost Leads, the status of a post is the button or the text shown on its row.

• Detect: the post has likes or comments and was never analyzed. Click the button to launch a detection.

• No interaction: nobody has liked or commented on the post yet, so there is nothing to scan.

• In progress, with a Cancel link: a detection is running on the post.

• View leads: the post was analyzed and leads were found. Click to open them.

• No match with your ICP, or No match when you have more than one ICP ready for detection, whichever ICPs the post was analyzed against: the post was analyzed and nobody came out as a lead.

• Sync: the post was analyzed, and new likes or comments have arrived since. Click to analyze them. A person already scored against an ICP is not charged again.

• Re-run, with the note ICP updated since then: the ICP was changed after the post was analyzed. On a post that already has leads, the same action is a small link, ICP updated, re-run, under View leads.

• Retry: the detection failed. Click to launch it again.

Two extra lines can appear under the status of a post in MagicPost. A line that starts with Auto-scan gives the next scan planned by the detection agent. A line that counts unscanned ICPs means the post was analyzed against some of your ICPs only: click it to run the others.

ICP statuses in the Detect leads dialog

When you click Detect on a post, MagicPost opens the Detect leads dialog. Each ICP listed in the dialog carries a badge that gives the state of that ICP on the post.

• Not analyzed: the post was never scanned against this ICP.

• Detecting…: a detection is running for this ICP. The badge adds the number of leads found so far.

• Synced, followed by the number of leads: the post was analyzed against this ICP and nothing has changed since.

• Needs resync: new likes or comments have arrived since the last detection for this ICP.

• ICP updated: the ICP was changed after the post was analyzed.

• Canceled: you canceled the detection.

• Failed: the detection failed.

Post statuses in the post detail panel

When you open a post in MagicPost Leads, the detail panel sums the post up with one chip: Not analyzed, In progress, To sync, ICP updated, Analyzed or Failed. The panel has two tabs. Leads lists the people kept as leads, and Engagers lists everyone who liked or commented.

The Re-run action opens the Re-run detection dialog. The dialog separates three groups. The profiles already scored are kept and not charged again. The profiles to re-evaluate cost up to one credit each: that line is switched on by default, and you can switch it off in the dialog. The new leads are charged one credit each when the fit is at least Medium.

Lead statuses in the ICP affinity column

In the Leads tab, the ICP affinity column shows the scoring status of each lead for the selected ICP. MagicPost shows this column only when an ICP is selected, not in the All leads view.

• Excellent, Good or Medium: the lead is scored. Click the level to read the reasoning. The same popover offers Re-check affinity, which runs a new scoring. MagicPost asks for a confirmation first: the new scoring replaces the current score and spends one Leads credit if the fit stays at least Medium. If the new scoring falls below Medium, the profile is set aside and leaves your Leads list, at no credit cost.

• Scoring…: the scoring is running or waiting in line.

• Score the affinity: the lead passed the free pre-qualification and is not scored yet. Click to score it.

• Retry: the scoring failed. Click to run it again.

• Manually approved or Set aside: the fit is below Medium, and the profile stays in the list because you added it to the ICP list by hand.

• A dash: MagicPost has no verdict for this lead on this ICP yet.

MagicPost has no "Low" level in the Leads list. A profile whose fit is judged below Medium is not a lead: it does not appear in the list, it is not counted, and it costs no credit.

One exception exists in MagicPost Leads: a profile you added to an ICP list by hand stays in the list even when its fit is below Medium. The ICP affinity column then shows Manually approved or Set aside instead of a level.

Labels in the detail panel of a post

The detail panel of a post in MagicPost Leads also shows people who liked or commented without becoming leads. Three labels appear there.

• Set aside: the profile was analyzed and its affinity with your ICP is not enough. It is not counted as a lead and no credit was spent.

• Manually approved: a set-aside profile that you added to an ICP list by hand. It then appears in your leads.

• Lead, in the Engagers tab: a solid chip marks a person already in your leads. A dashed chip, with the tooltip Promote to lead, lets you add the person to one or several ICPs yourself.

Pending leads

When your Leads credits run out during a detection, MagicPost keeps the leads it could not score and hides them from the list. A chip above the list counts them as pending leads. Once you have credits again, click the chip, then confirm in the Process your pending leads dialog. After a credit purchase, MagicPost restarts the pending leads on its own.

Detection agent statuses

The chip next to the Leads tabs gives the state of the MagicPost detection agent. Auto-detection on means the agent scans your new posts. Auto-detection paused means you have no Leads credits left for the period: your posts are no longer analyzed until you have credits again.

FAQ

Why is there no Low level in my MagicPost leads?

Because a profile scored below Medium is not a lead in MagicPost. It is free, hidden from the Leads list and left out of the counts. You can still see it under Set aside in the detail panel of the post.

What is the difference between Disqualified and Set aside?

The two labels come from two different steps of MagicPost Leads. Set aside means the AI analyzed the profile and judged the fit insufficient. Disqualified is a label of the pre-qualification line in the ICP affinity tab of a lead card: it appears whenever the profile was not a clear keyword match, including on a lead that the AI then scored. A profile that a keyword or a filter of your ICP rules out is not added to your leads. Pre-qualification is free, and a set-aside profile costs no credit. How AI scoring works details the two steps.

My post shows Sync but I do not want to spend more credits. What happens?

Nothing is scanned by hand until you click Sync. If the detection agent is on and still has a scan planned for that post, the agent will scan the new likes and comments at that time. Turn the agent off, or restrict its ICPs, to avoid it.

Why is the Detect button disabled on my other posts?

MagicPost analyzes one post at a time. While a detection runs, the buttons of the other posts are disabled and show A post is already being analyzed. Wait for the detection to finish, or click Cancel on the running post.
