How to enable automatic lead detection
|The MagicPost lead detection agent scans each of your new LinkedIn posts at set times after publication and scores the people who liked or commented against your ICPs, with no action from you. The agent belongs to the Leads module, which is included in the Growth, Creator, Agency, and Team plans and in the free trial. In an organization, the member needs a seat that includes Leads. The agent only works on your own posts.
The Leads onboarding proposes the detection agent with the switch already on, so the agent may already be running on your account, with the default check times and the email notification switched on. When the chip Auto-detection on shows next to the Leads tabs, the agent is active. The MagicPost Leads page presents the module as a whole.
Turn the detection agent on
You need at least one ICP before the MagicPost agent can score anyone. See how to create your first ICP.
Open Leads in MagicPost.
On the banner Enable lead auto-detection, click Enable. The Lead detection agent dialog opens.
Switch on Enable the agent.
Under When to check after publication, select one or several check times. The dialog offers times that range from a couple of hours to a few days after publication, and several are selected by default.
Under Which ICPs to identify, choose All my ICPs or Selected ICPs.
Under Email notifications, switch Send me an email when the agent detects leads on or off. An agent enabled during the Leads onboarding has this email switched on already.
Click Save.
MagicPost refuses to save the agent settings with no check time selected, or with Selected ICPs and no ICP ticked. Once the agent is saved, the banner is replaced by the chip Auto-detection on. Click that chip at any time to change the agent settings.
What the detection agent scans
Likes and comments, always both. The MagicPost agent does not let you scan likes only or comments only.
Ready ICPs only. The agent uses the ICPs marked Ready and ignores archived ICPs. With All my ICPs, each profile is qualified against each of your ICPs.
Each post, several times. A post keeps receiving likes and comments for days. Each check time you selected triggers one scan of the post.
What automatic detection costs in credits
The MagicPost detection agent spends Leads credits the same way a manual detection does: one credit per lead detected with at least a Medium fit, per ICP. A profile that is analyzed and set aside costs nothing. A profile that comes out as a lead on two ICPs costs two credits.
A profile already scored against an ICP is not charged again when a later scan of the agent sees the same person. To limit credit usage, choose Selected ICPs and keep only the ICPs that matter. See understanding and buying Leads credits for your quota and how to get more credits.
See when the next scans run
MagicPost shows the agent schedule in two places. In the Lead detection agent dialog, the block Next scheduled scans lists the upcoming scans. In the Posts tab of Leads, a post with a planned scan shows a line that starts with Auto-scan. Hover that line to open the Automatic scan schedule of the post, with each scan marked as done, upcoming, or no scan recorded.
When the agent is paused
The MagicPost detection agent pauses when you have no Leads credits left for the period. The chip then reads Auto-detection paused, and the dialog shows the notice The agent is paused. Your posts are no longer analyzed, your agent settings are kept, and the agent resumes as soon as you have credits again.
A scan that came due while the agent was paused is not replayed by the agent. A later scan of the same post still picks up everyone who liked or commented since publication. If every scan of a post was missed, run a detection on the post yourself.
Posts published outside MagicPost
A post published through MagicPost gets its agent scans planned at the moment of publication.
A post published directly on LinkedIn can also be scanned by the MagicPost agent, but without guarantee and with a delay: MagicPost first has to find the new post on your LinkedIn account. If such a post shows the Detect button in the Posts tab and no Auto-scan line, launch the detection yourself. Manual detection works on any of your own posts, wherever you published them.
Turn the detection agent off
Click the chip Auto-detection on next to the Leads tabs.
Switch off Enable the agent.
Click Save.
Turning the MagicPost agent off deletes nothing: the leads already detected stay in your list. Only future scans stop, and the email notification stops with them. Manual detection keeps working with the agent on or off.
FAQ
Does the MagicPost agent scan posts published before I enabled it?
Not the older ones. The agent scans a post at the check times that follow its publication, so a post whose check times have all passed is not scanned by the agent. Run a manual detection on older posts instead.
Why does the chip say Auto-detection paused?
You have no Leads credits left for the period, so MagicPost has paused the agent. Your settings are kept. The agent resumes when you have credits again, after your quota renews or after you get more credits.
Can the agent scan only likes, or only comments?
No. The MagicPost detection agent always scans both likes and comments.
I turned the agent on but a post still shows Detect. Is that normal?
Yes, in two cases. The post was published directly on LinkedIn and MagicPost has not found it yet, or its check times had passed before you enabled the agent. Click Detect to scan the post yourself.
