How to generate AI photos of yourself for your posts

MagicPost generates AI photos of you from reference photos that you provide. AI photos live in the AI photos tab of the MagicPost Media page. Generating an AI photo requires a plan that includes media generation: Creator, Agency, and Team. The Growth plan does not include it.

On the MagicPost Agency plan, a member on a specialized seat type (Growth, Analytics or Engagement) has no media generation, so no AI photos. See Everything in the Agency plan.

A MagicPost AI photo shows you in the place, the outfit and the rendering style that you describe. It is not an infographic: to turn content into an image, see what AI visuals and AI mockups are. For an overview of MagicPost visuals, see the LinkedIn visual generator page.

Set up your reference photos

MagicPost needs reference photos of you before it can generate an AI photo. If you have none, the first click on Generate a photo opens the My reference photos window.

  1. In the MagicPost sidebar, open Media under Manage, then the AI photos tab.

  2. Click Generate a photo. If you already saved reference photos, click My reference photos to change them.

  3. Click Add photos, then choose photos of yourself in your MagicPost library or import new ones.

  4. Click Save my reference photos.

The My reference photos window states how many photos MagicPost requires and how many it accepts. The save button stays disabled below the minimum.

In the same window, See examples lists what works best for MagicPost AI photos: a sharp, clearly visible face, various angles and expressions, and several outfits or settings.

Generate an AI photo

  1. In the AI photos tab, click Generate a photo.

  2. Describe the photo in the text field: location, outfit, atmosphere. You can also click a card in the Templates row to fill the field.

  3. Choose a Rendering style, for example Realistic, Studio or Cinematic. More styles opens the other renderings.

  4. Optional: check Add text to the image and type a short text. Under Placement, keep Auto or choose Custom to describe where the text appears.

  5. Choose the format: Vertical, Square or Landscape.

  6. Click Generate my photo.

MagicPost generates an AI photo in the background. You can close the window and keep working: an AI photo panel follows the generation, then shows "Your photo is ready" with a View photo button. The finished photo appears in the AI photos tab.

MagicPost generates one AI photo at a time. While a photo is running, you cannot start another one, and MagicPost shows "A photo is already being generated, please wait a moment".

Get photo ideas from one of your posts

In the MagicPost photo window, Suggestions for your post lets you choose one of your posts. MagicPost reads the post and proposes photo ideas. Clicking an idea fills the text field. These suggestions do not use your generation allowance.

Add another person or a place

In the text field of the MagicPost photo window, Attach a photo adds one image from your library to the request. You then say what the image is: Someone, to appear alongside you, or A setting, the place where the photo happens.

MagicPost marks the attached photo option as beta. The window warns that "Photos may not be reproduced perfectly".

Generate a variant or edit an AI photo

  1. In the AI photos tab, click a photo to open its details.

  2. Click Variant or edit.

  3. Stay on Variant to change the description, the rendering style or the format. The new photo joins the variants of the first one.

  4. Or choose Edit and, under What are you changing?, describe only the change. MagicPost keeps the rest of the photo, its rendering style and its format.

  5. Click Generate my photo.

In MagicPost, the Edit choice only appears on an AI photo that finished generating. A variant and an edit each count as one generation.

Use an AI photo in a post

On a finished MagicPost AI photo, Add to a post lets you choose the post that receives the photo. Download saves the image file to your computer.

You can also start from a post. In the MagicPost editor, click Add media, then Photo under Create with AI. MagicPost opens the photo window with that post already selected for suggestions.

An AI photo generated from the MagicPost editor is not attached to the post automatically. It arrives in the AI photos tab, where you click Add to a post.

How many AI photos you can generate

MagicPost AI photos use the same allowance as AI visuals and AI mockups. When your plan sets a cap, the photo window shows how many generations are left this month. When your plan sets no cap, MagicPost shows no counter.

The cap of each MagicPost plan, and the rules of the free trial, are described in how many visuals and carousels can I generate. When an AI photo fails to generate, MagicPost gives the generation back to your allowance.

FAQ

Why does MagicPost say my reference photos don't show a face?

MagicPost found no face in the reference photos you saved, so your AI photos will not look like you. Open My reference photos and replace them with sharp portraits of yourself, from a variety of angles.

MagicPost AI photos always start from portraits of you. To start from an image that is not a portrait, use the Visuals tab of the Media page.

My AI photo failed. What should I do?

Follow the button on the failed card in the AI photos tab. When MagicPost shows "Blocked by content moderation, rephrase your request" or "The attached photo could not be read", click Edit my request and change the request. When it shows "Your reference photos couldn't be read", click Check my reference photos. In the other cases, click Retry.

Does adding an AI photo replace the media already on my post?

Yes. When you add a MagicPost AI photo to a post that already has media, the photo replaces that media. MagicPost asks you to confirm first.

Can I generate AI photos on the Growth plan?

No. The Growth plan does not include media generation, so MagicPost shows an upgrade window when you click Generate a photo. AI photos are included in Creator, Agency, and Team. The AI photos tab itself stays visible on Growth.

Why does the photo window say AI photo generation is not included in my plan?

Your MagicPost account has no AI image allowance. This is the case on a free trial that includes no AI image, which depends on your country. The photo window then shows "AI photo generation is not included in your plan" and the Generate my photo button stays disabled. See how many visuals and carousels can I generate.
