How to generate and download my LinkedIn Wrapped

This guide is for generating, downloading and troubleshooting your LinkedIn Wrapped inside MagicPost.

If you are just discovering the tool and want to see what it produces, start on the LinkedIn Wrapped page, which shows an example and lets you create your own.

Already have an account? Everything below applies.

The Wrapped is not the metrics dashboard

A naming note first: in the French interface this feature is called Rétrospective; in English it is Wrapped. Same feature, same page, and this is the article for it.

MagicPost has two ways of looking at your numbers, and they answer different questions:

  • The Wrapped (this article) is a single shareable image: a poster summarising one calendar year. You generate it once, customise it, then download it or publish it. Free on every plan, and mostly relevant in December and January.

  • The metrics dashboard is the interactive tool you come back to every week: four tabs (Reporting, Posts, Audience, Benchmarks), a selectable period (30 days, 90 days, 12 months or custom), sortable columns, CSV and PDF exports. Available from the Analytics plan, always in the sidebar.

A recap of your year to share: that is the Wrapped. Deciding what to change in next week's posts: that is the dashboard. The rest of this article is only about the Wrapped.

What you need

Two things, and nothing else:

  1. A MagicPost account. Free is enough. There is no paid plan to buy and no feature to enable.

  2. Your LinkedIn account connected, through LinkedIn's official OAuth. No password is shared. MagicPost is a verified LinkedIn partner, and the data comes from LinkedIn's official API, not from a browser extension.

If your LinkedIn is not connected yet, the page walks you through it.

Generate it

Open Wrapped, then click Generate my wrapped.

MagicPost pulls your posts and your follower history for the year. It takes a few minutes: the numbers are fetched from LinkedIn, not estimated.

You need at least one post in the year for a Wrapped to exist.

What is on it

  • Your profile and your followers: total, plus how much you grew over the year.

  • Evolution over the year: a monthly curve you can switch between average likes, comments, impressions or followers.

  • Three key figures: posts published (with the change versus last year), average likes, and new followers.

  • Days of the week: your average likes per day, with your best day highlighted.

  • Post formats: image, video, carousel, text, document, and how each performed for you.

  • Your three best posts of the year.

  • Your main themes: what you actually wrote about, detected automatically.

Three things the numbers mean

Worth knowing before you read yours, or share it.

"Average" is really a median. One viral post would drag a true average so far up that the figure would describe nothing. The median tells you what a typical post of yours did.

New followers counts the ones you gained. People who unfollowed are not deducted, so this is gross growth, not net.

Themes are detected automatically from a predefined list, so they are a good read of your year, not a manual classification.

Download it, or post it

Download exports the page as an image, ready to share anywhere.

Two limits, and they are worth knowing before you try:

  • Safari is not supported. Use Chrome, Firefox or Edge.

  • Downloading does not work on mobile. Do it from a computer, where the export quality is much better.

Publish-ready post does the whole thing for you: MagicPost writes a LinkedIn post from your own figures, attaches your Wrapped image, and opens it in the editor so you can adjust it, schedule it or publish it.

Before that, Customize lets you edit your first name, last name, job title and profile photo. This only affects the export: nothing changes on LinkedIn. A separate Colours button sets the primary colour and a background pattern (dots, blur, hatched, and a few others).

When can I access it?

The Wrapped entry appears in the sidebar around the turn of the year, which is when it is worth publishing.

Outside that window, the page stays reachable at any time. And if you came to MagicPost from the LinkedIn Wrapped page, the entry stays in your menu all year.

FAQ

Is it free?

Yes. Any plan, including free. You just need a MagicPost account and a connected LinkedIn.

Which year does it cover?

The calendar year in progress. In January, it covers the year that just ended, which is when most people want it.

Can I refresh the numbers?

Yes, once a day, with Refresh data.

Some figures are missing.

Impressions and follower counts need the right LinkedIn permission. If it is missing, MagicPost prompts you to reconnect, and shows average comments instead of new followers in the meantime.

Can I share a link to it?

There is no public link. You download the image and share that, or use Publish-ready post to publish it straight to LinkedIn.

Where does the data come from?

Your posts and followers, via LinkedIn's official API, as a verified partner. It is the same source as the metrics dashboard. The Wrapped freezes it into one annual image, where the dashboard stays interactive all year.
