How to write and schedule a post yourself in the Editor

The Editor tab of MagicPost is a blank page where you write a LinkedIn post yourself, without the AI, then schedule or publish it. You open it from New post. The Editor is included in Growth, Creator, Agency, and Team, and in the free trial. On the Growth plan, which has no AI generation, the Editor is the place where posts are written.

Where the Editor is in MagicPost

Click New post in the MagicPost sidebar. The top of the screen has three tabs.

  • Chat carries a Soon badge. Chat is coming soon and is not open yet.

  • Generator writes posts with the AI from a topic, a link or a file. The Generator is included in Creator, Agency, and Team.

  • Editor is the blank page described in this article.

On the Growth plan, New post opens directly on the Editor tab. In a MagicPost organization, a seat that cannot schedule posts does not have the Editor tab.

In a MagicPost Agency organization, a specialized seat of the Growth or Analytics type has its own Editor entry in the sidebar. An Analytics seat has no New post entry, so the Editor entry is its way to the Editor. Seat types are described in everything in the Agency plan.

How to write a post in the Editor

  1. Click New post, then the Editor tab.

  2. Type your post in the editor. As soon as you have typed a few words, MagicPost saves the post as a draft, then saves your changes automatically as you write.

  3. Use the buttons under the text to complete the post: they are listed in the next section.

  4. Click Schedule. MagicPost opens the post with its scheduling panel.

  5. Pick a date and a time and click Schedule post, or click Publish now to publish right away.

The Schedule button of the MagicPost Editor appears once the draft exists, so it is not there on an empty page. The scheduling panel is detailed in how to schedule a LinkedIn post.

The tools of the Editor

  • Editing options has Insert symbol, Insert emoji and, once a signature is saved in MagicPost, Insert my signature.

  • Preview options has Mobile display and Show "see more", to check how the post looks on LinkedIn. This button is not shown on a narrow screen.

  • Poll adds a poll to the post: see how to add a poll to a LinkedIn post.

  • Add media attaches a file from Library, Image, Video or Carousel / PDF: see how to add media to a post. A post has either a poll or media, not both.

  • Bold and italic. Select a part of the text to open a small toolbar with bold and italic styles.

  • Mentions. Type "@" followed by a name to tag a person or a company: see how to mention someone in a post.

The poll and media buttons of the MagicPost Editor need a saved draft. On an empty page, MagicPost answers "Your post doesn't have enough content yet."

The three-dot menu at the top right of the MagicPost Editor shows the word count of the post. It also has Copy text, Save as template, Duplicate as draft and Delete the post.

Where your drafts go

A post written in the MagicPost Editor is saved in the Drafts tab of the Posts page. You do not have to click a save button.

To start another post, click Reset above the Editor, then Yes, reset. MagicPost empties the Editor and keeps the previous post in the Posts page. The Reset button appears once a post is open in the Editor.

What is locked in the Editor on a plan without AI

The Growth plan sold to individuals includes writing and scheduling, and it does not include the AI features of MagicPost. In the Editor, this shows in three places.

  • AI editing. The Edit with AI options stay visible and open the "Unlock AI improvements" window. AI editing is included in Creator, Agency, and Team.

  • AI media. In Add media, the three entries under Create with AI carry a lock. Your own images, videos and PDF files are not locked. AI media generation is included in Creator, Agency, and Team.

  • Scheduled comments. The comments area under a post is not shown. Scheduled comments are included in Creator, Agency, and Team.

On the Chat and Generator tabs, a Growth subscriber sees a banner that reads "Creator Plan required". The banner says that AI generation is not included in the plan and that posts can be written and scheduled from the Editor. Its two links are Open the Editor and View plans. Everything the Growth plan includes is in everything in the Growth plan.

A specialized seat of a MagicPost Agency organization does not see the two AI locks. On a seat of the Growth or Analytics type, MagicPost hides the AI editing options and the Create with AI entries of the Editor instead of showing them with a lock. Scheduled comments follow the seat type: an Analytics seat still sees the comments area under a post, with a lock on Add a comment.

FAQ

Can I write a LinkedIn post in MagicPost without using the AI?

Yes. The Editor tab of New post is a blank page: you type the post yourself, then schedule or publish it. Nothing is generated by the AI in that flow.

Is my draft saved if I close MagicPost?

Yes, once the post exists as a draft. MagicPost creates the draft after the first few words and saves your changes automatically. The draft is in the Drafts tab of the Posts page.

Why do I see "Creator Plan required" although I pay for MagicPost?

You are on the Growth plan, which does not include AI generation. The banner appears on the Chat and Generator tabs. Writing and scheduling in the Editor are part of your plan. AI generation is included in Creator, Agency, and Team: see how to upgrade your MagicPost plan.

Why is there no Schedule button in the Editor?

The Editor is still empty. MagicPost shows Schedule once the post is saved as a draft, which happens after you have typed a few words.

What is the difference between the Generator and the Editor?

The Generator asks the AI to write the post from a topic, a link or a file. The Editor does not generate anything: you write the text. A post created in the Generator opens in the same editor afterwards, with the same tools and the same scheduling panel.
