How to publish on a company page

MagicPost can publish and schedule posts on a LinkedIn company page. You connect the page to a MagicPost seat, and every post from that seat goes out in the name of the page. Publishing on a company page is included in Growth, Creator, Agency, and Team, like publishing on a personal profile. You must be an administrator of the page on LinkedIn.

The page is chosen when you connect LinkedIn, not post by post

The MagicPost editor has no switch to post as the page. The LinkedIn identity belongs to the seat: a MagicPost seat is connected either to a personal profile or to one company page. Every post published from that seat goes out under that identity.

To publish on a page from MagicPost, you connect the page to the seat. To go back to your personal profile, you disconnect LinkedIn and connect your personal account again. Teams and agencies that publish on both give the page its own seat: see how to manage seats.

How to connect a company page to MagicPost

  1. Open Settings and go to the LinkedIn tab.

  2. If the seat is already connected to a personal profile, click Disconnect on the LinkedIn row first.

  3. Click Connect LinkedIn and sign in to LinkedIn in the window that opens.

  4. MagicPost asks "What type of LinkedIn account do you want to connect?". Click Company page.

  5. Pick the page in the list.

MagicPost lists only the pages where LinkedIn gives you the administrator role, which LinkedIn calls super admin in the page settings. Other page roles are not enough. If you administer no page, MagicPost does not show the Company page option at all.

When someone else holds the LinkedIn access

In a MagicPost organization, the person who sets up the seat is not always the person who administers the page. The connection window then shows "Don't have access to this LinkedIn account? Send a connection link to the person who does." The person who opens the link signs in to LinkedIn and gets the same choice between a personal account and a company page.

What works on a company page

  • Text posts, images, videos and documents

  • Mentions of people and companies

  • Polls

  • Scheduling, with the same steps as on a personal profile: see how to schedule a LinkedIn post

  • Scheduled comments, published in the name of the page. Scheduled comments are included in Creator, Agency, and Team.

What does not work on a company page: some metrics

LinkedIn does not give MagicPost the same data for a company page as for a personal profile. On a seat connected to a company page, MagicPost hides four post metrics:

  • Saves

  • Profile clicks

  • Followers gained

  • Premium CTA clicks

MagicPost still shows impressions, unique views, likes, comments, shares and link clicks for the posts of a company page. The dashboard itself is covered in how to analyze your LinkedIn metrics.

When a post fails on a company page

The most specific failure of a company page is a lost role. When the connected LinkedIn profile is no longer an administrator of the page, LinkedIn refuses the post. Reconnecting LinkedIn in MagicPost does not fix it. A super admin of the page gives the role back on LinkedIn, then you publish the post again.

The LinkedIn connection of a company page also expires like any other, and MagicPost emails a reminder before it does. See how to renew your LinkedIn connection and why a post did not publish.

FAQ

Can I publish to my personal profile and to my company page from the same MagicPost seat?

No. A MagicPost seat has one LinkedIn identity at a time: a personal profile or one company page. To publish on both without reconnecting each time, give the page its own seat.

My company page is not in the list. Why?

LinkedIn does not report you as an administrator of that page. MagicPost only lists the pages where you hold the administrator role. Ask a super admin of the page to give you that role on LinkedIn, then connect again.

I do not see the Company page option at all. Why?

MagicPost shows Company page only when the LinkedIn account you signed in with administers at least one page. Check that you signed in to LinkedIn with the right account.

What happens to my scheduled posts if I switch the seat from my profile to a page?

MagicPost publishes a scheduled post under the LinkedIn identity connected to the seat at the time of publication. Posts that were scheduled before the switch therefore go out in the name of the page. Check the calendar before you switch.

Is there a limit to the number of posts MagicPost publishes on a company page?

Yes. MagicPost limits how many posts one LinkedIn profile or company page publishes over a rolling period, and the limit of a company page is lower than the standard limit of a personal profile on a paid plan. When a schedule goes beyond the limit, MagicPost refuses it and the message states the limit and the period.

Do I need a specific plan to publish on a company page?

No. Publishing on a company page is included in Growth, Creator, Agency, and Team. Scheduled comments on a page follow the same rule as on a profile: they are included in Creator, Agency, and Team.
