How to add a carousel or visual to a LinkedIn post

From the builder or the hub, Add to a post attaches your carousel as a PDF document or your visual as an image, straight into the scheduler.

You do not export the file by hand and re-upload it. One click moves the finished piece onto a post, ready to schedule.

Carousels and visuals are in Beta. They work and you can publish what they produce, but expect the tools to keep changing.

What each tool produces

The two tools make two different kinds of file, and LinkedIn treats them differently.

A carousel exports as a PDF sized 1080×1350, one page per slide. It posts to LinkedIn as a document your readers swipe through.

A visual exports as a single JPEG image. There is no PDF for visuals, only the one image, in the ratio you picked.

Knowing this matters for one rule: a document post holds a document and nothing else. More on that below.

Add to a post

The attach flow is the same whether you are in the editor or looking at a finished piece in the Media hub. You do not need to export first.

1. Open your finished carousel or visual, then click Add to a post.

2. Pick where it goes:

- Add to the original post: send it straight back to the post you opened the generator from. This option only appears when you started from a post's editor.

- New post: create a fresh post around it.

- Choose an existing post: pick a draft or scheduled post you already have.

You get a confirmation toast: "Carousel added to the post" for a deck, "Visual added to the post" for an image.

Replacing media that is already there

If the post you chose already has media, MagicPost asks you to confirm before it swaps the old attachment for the new one. Nothing is replaced silently.

One limit is worth repeating. A carousel posts as a LinkedIn document, and a document post cannot combine other media. Attaching a carousel to a post clears any image already on it, and you cannot add an image on top of a carousel.

A visual is a single JPEG image, so it attaches to a post the same way any image does.

Export the file

Attaching to a post is optional. Sometimes you just want the file.

Click Export on a visual, or Export as PDF on a carousel. MagicPost downloads the file locally and, at the same time, drops a copy into your media library.

The copy in the library means the file is always one click away later, without re-exporting. You get a toast: "Carousel exported to your media library" or "Visual exported to your media library".

When export fails

A carousel PDF can grow too large, usually from many slides or heavy images. When that happens, the export stops and you see: "The PDF is too large, reduce the number of slides or images".

Some images may not make it into the file in this case. Fix it by cutting a few slides or lightening the images, then click Retry to export again.

Can I attach a carousel and an image to the same post?

No. A carousel posts as a LinkedIn document, and a document post can hold only one piece of media. Attaching a carousel replaces any image on the post, and you cannot layer an image on top of it.

Where does the exported file go?

Two places at once. Export downloads the file to your computer and copies it into your media library, so you can reuse it later without exporting again.

Can I attach from the hub without opening the editor?

Yes. On the Media page, open a finished carousel or visual and click Add to a post directly. You do not need to reopen the editor to attach it.
