How to generate a LinkedIn carousel with AI

MagicPost writes and lays out a full carousel from one of four sources; you edit it, then publish it as a LinkedIn document.

You never open a design tool. You pick a source, MagicPost drafts every slide, and you refine what it made.

Carousels are in Beta. They work and you can publish what they produce, but expect the tool to keep changing. To see how they compare with single-image visuals, read can MagicPost generate visuals and carousels.

Generate the carousel

  1. Open the Media page and go to the Carousels tab.

  2. Click Generate with AI to open the wizard, titled Generate a carousel with AI.

  3. Pick one of the four sources, then supply it:

- One of my posts: turn a post you already wrote into a deck.

- Topic: type what the carousel is about.

- URL: an article, a page, a post. MagicPost reads it and drafts from there.

- File: upload a PDF, .docx, .txt, or .md, up to 50 MB.

  1. Choose the look: apply one of the 1–3 styles from your brand kit, or pick one of the 12 built-in design styles. For colors, keep the Template colors or set a custom palette, which applies to this deck only and is not saved.

  2. Set the number of slides: Auto, 5, 8, 10, or 12. Auto lets MagicPost decide the length from your source.

  3. Click Generate with AI. MagicPost writes and lays out every slide, then drops you into the editor.

Your brand kit styles carry your name, colors, and logo across every deck. See how to set up my brand kit.

Edit the carousel

The generated deck is a starting point. Everything is editable.

Text. Click any text on a slide and type. Each slide follows one of 10 slide types, from a hook to a closing call to action.

Slides. Add, duplicate, hide, delete, and reorder slides. A deck holds up to 20 slides.

Images. Pull an image from your media library, then crop it and adjust its overlay so text stays readable on top.

Copilot. The Copilot reworks the deck for you. Type a Request a change on a single slide or the whole deck, and it rewrites both the text and the design. You might ask it to Make the hook more impactful.

Undo and redo are always there, and your work autosaves as you go.

What to know before you generate

A few things are fixed, so it helps to know them up front.

The ratio is locked to 4:5 (1080×1350). Every slide uses it, and you cannot change the carousel format.

Each generation counts as one unit against your carousel allowance. Manual editing is free, but every Copilot change counts against your AI-edit allowance. See how many visuals and carousels can I generate.

When the deck is ready, publish it. See how to add a carousel or visual to a LinkedIn post.

FAQ

Can I change the carousel format or ratio?

No. Carousels are fixed at 4:5 (1080×1350), one page per slide. This is the ratio LinkedIn documents display best in the feed, so the format stays the same for every deck.

Can I start without AI?

Yes. On the Carousels tab, click New carousel, then Start from scratch for a blank deck or From a template to begin from a design. Both are free and skip generation entirely.

What file types can I upload?

For the File source, MagicPost reads PDF, .docx, .txt, and .md, up to 50 MB per file.

Does editing cost credits?

Manual editing is free: text, slides, images, and reordering never cost anything. Only the Copilot counts, against your carousel AI-edit allowance, since it regenerates the design for you.
