How to schedule comments on your posts
A scheduled comment is a comment that MagicPost publishes under your own LinkedIn post, either right after the post goes live or after a delay you choose. You write the comment at the same time as the post. Scheduled comments are included in Creator, Agency, and Team, and in the free trial. They are not included in the Growth plan.
In a MagicPost Agency organization, the seat type decides whether scheduled comments are available: a Growth seat has them, and an Analytics seat does not. The Growth plan sold to individuals does not include scheduled comments. Seat types are described in everything in the Agency plan.
Subscribers of a former MagicPost plan will find what their plan includes in the article about the Analytics and Starter plans. The feature itself is presented on the scheduled comments page.
How to add a scheduled comment to a post
Open the post from the Posts page or from the Calendar. MagicPost shows the comments area right under the editor.
Click Add a comment.
Write the comment. MagicPost saves the text as you type.
Choose when the comment goes out, with the dropdowns next to "after posting".
Click Schedule. The badge of the comment changes from Draft to Scheduled.
You can add several scheduled comments to the same MagicPost post, each with its own delay. Once a post has a comment, the button reads Schedule another comment.
A comment you did not schedule stays a draft
MagicPost only publishes a comment that carries the Scheduled badge. A comment with the Draft badge is saved, and it is never published. Writing the comment is not enough: you have to click Schedule on it.
When you schedule or publish a post that still has comment drafts, MagicPost warns you with an "Unscheduled comment" window. The window says how many drafts will not be published with the post. Click Continue anyway to go on without them, or Cancel to go back and schedule them.
Choosing the delay of a scheduled comment
MagicPost counts the delay of a scheduled comment from the moment the post is published. One dropdown sets the unit. For a delay, a second dropdown sets the value.
Immediately: MagicPost publishes the comment right after the post goes live.
Minutes, Hours or Days: MagicPost publishes the comment that long after the post. The values on offer are the ones listed in the dropdown, and the longest delay is the last value of the Days list.
What a scheduled comment can contain
Text, with mentions of people and companies. Type "@" in the comment to tag a profile.
One image or one GIF.
The mention list of MagicPost marks a profile as Mentions disabled when that person does not accept mentions on LinkedIn. A comment that tags such a profile is rejected by LinkedIn, so leave the tag out.
Comment on a post that is already published
Scheduled comments also work on a post that is already live. Open the published post in MagicPost and click Post a comment. Keep Immediately and click Publish to send the comment now, or pick a delay and click Schedule. MagicPost counts the delay from the publication of the post, so delays that have already passed are not offered.
A comment that MagicPost has published appears under the preview of the post. Its three-dot menu has View on LinkedIn, Edit and Delete. Delete removes the comment from LinkedIn for good.
Scheduled comments on a company page
When your MagicPost seat is connected to a company page, scheduled comments are published in the name of the page, like the post itself.
When a scheduled comment fails
A comment that LinkedIn refuses gets a Failed badge in MagicPost, with a message under it. When a mention is the cause, the message names the person who cannot be tagged. A failed comment behaves like a draft: fix the text, then schedule or publish the comment again.
FAQ
Can I schedule comments on the Growth plan?
No. Scheduled comments are closed on the Growth plan, and MagicPost does not show the Add a comment button there. Scheduled comments are included in Creator, Agency, and Team. A seat of the Growth type in a MagicPost Agency organization is different: that seat has scheduled comments.
I wrote a comment and MagicPost did not publish it. Why?
The comment most likely stayed a draft. MagicPost publishes only the comments with the Scheduled badge. Open the post, check the badge of the comment, and click Schedule if it reads Draft.
What happens to my scheduled comments if the post fails to publish?
The comments are not published. MagicPost starts the delay of a scheduled comment only when the post is live, so no comment goes out under a post that failed. See why a post did not publish.
Can I change or cancel a scheduled comment?
Yes. Edit the text or the delay at any time before the comment goes out, and MagicPost saves the change. Click Unschedule to turn the comment back into a draft, or use the trash icon to delete it.
Why can't I delete a scheduled comment?
MagicPost is publishing that comment at this moment. A comment that is being published cannot be deleted. Wait until it is live, then delete it from the preview of the post.
Is the timing of a scheduled comment exact?
Almost. MagicPost checks at short intervals for comments that are due, so a comment can go out slightly after its exact time.
