How to delete my MagicPost account

You can delete your MagicPost account yourself, in Settings, under the Preferences tab, with the Delete account button. The button exists on every MagicPost account, free or paid. Deleting a MagicPost account is permanent: the data is removed, and a paid subscription stops immediately instead of running until the end of the paid period. MagicPost asks you to prove that you own the account before it deletes it.

How to delete your MagicPost account

  1. Open the profile menu at the bottom of the MagicPost sidebar and select Settings. The page opens on the Preferences tab.

  2. At the bottom of the tab, next to Log out, click Delete account.

  3. Read the confirmation window. It says "This action is irreversible. All your data will be permanently deleted." On a paid account, it adds "Your current subscription will be canceled immediately and you won't be charged again."

  4. Fill in the fields the window shows to prove that you own the account (see below).

  5. Click Delete to confirm, or Cancel to keep the account.

MagicPost then logs you out and shows "Account successfully deleted". This link opens the tab directly: app.magicpost.in/settings?tab=profile.

How MagicPost checks that you own the account

The Delete account window of MagicPost asks for a proof that depends on how your account logs in:

  • Account with a password. Fill in Current password:.

  • Two-factor authentication on. Fill in Two-factor authentication code:, after the password if the account has one. Use the code from your authenticator app, or click Get a code by email.

  • No password and no two-factor authentication, for example an account created with Google. Click Get a code by email: MagicPost sends a code to the current address of the account. Enter it in Code received by email:.

Each code MagicPost sends works once and for a limited time, and MagicPost accepts a limited number of wrong attempts. If a code has expired, request a new one. If you no longer know the password of your MagicPost account, log out, use Forgot your password? on the login page, then come back to delete the account.

What MagicPost removes when you delete your account

  • The account and its login. You can no longer log in to MagicPost with that email address.

  • Scheduled posts. MagicPost unschedules every post that was waiting to go out. None of them is published after the deletion.

  • Your files. MagicPost deletes the files of your media library and your custom visual designs.

  • The LinkedIn connection. MagicPost deletes the access it held to your LinkedIn account.

  • Two-factor authentication and newsletter. MagicPost removes the two-factor authentication setup of the account and takes your address off its newsletter list.

Deleting a MagicPost account does not remove anything from LinkedIn. Posts that MagicPost already published stay on your LinkedIn profile or company page. To remove them, delete them on LinkedIn.

What happens to your subscription

On a paid MagicPost account, deleting the account cancels the subscription on the spot. You are not charged again, and you lose access right away, even if part of the period is already paid. This is different from canceling the subscription, which keeps your plan until the end of the paid period.

Deleting a MagicPost account does not refund the period that is already paid. Refund requests go through support and are reviewed case by case: see Can I get a refund for my MagicPost subscription?

If your account belongs to an organization

A member who deletes their MagicPost account is removed from the organization. The organization and its other members are not affected.

The owner of an organization is in a different position. When the owner deletes their MagicPost account, MagicPost also deletes the organization, and its other members go back to free accounts. This applies to organizations on the Agency and Team plans. If the organization has to continue without you, contact MagicPost support before you delete your account.

Only the account holder can delete a MagicPost account. In a session opened on behalf of a member, for example when an organization admin opens the account of a member, the Delete account button does not appear and MagicPost refuses the deletion.

FAQ

Can I recover a deleted MagicPost account?

No. MagicPost states in the confirmation window that the action is irreversible, and there is no undo afterward. If you might come back, cancel your subscription instead and keep the account as a free account.

I only want to stop paying for MagicPost. Should I delete my account?

No. Cancel the subscription instead: you keep your plan until the end of the paid period, then your MagicPost account goes back to the free plan and stays open. See how to cancel your subscription.

Can I create a new MagicPost account with the same email address later?

No. MagicPost keeps the email address of a deleted individual account reserved, and the sign-up page answers "This email address has already been used." To come back to MagicPost, sign up with another address.

I have no password. How do I delete my MagicPost account?

Use a code sent by email. On a MagicPost account without a password, for example an account created with Google, the Delete account window has a Get a code by email button that sends a code to the current address of the account. If two-factor authentication is on, the window asks for a two-factor authentication code instead.

Will the posts I scheduled in MagicPost still be published after I delete my account?

No. MagicPost unschedules all the pending posts of the account at the moment of deletion. If you want a post to go out, publish it before you delete the account.

I only want MagicPost to stop accessing my LinkedIn account. Do I have to delete my account?

No. Open Settings, go to the LinkedIn tab and click Disconnect on the card of your LinkedIn connection. Your MagicPost account stays, without access to LinkedIn. See how to connect LinkedIn and renew the connection.
