How to reply to the comments on your posts from MagicPost
MagicPost has a Reply space where you read the comments left on your own LinkedIn posts and answer them without opening LinkedIn. The Reply space is a tab of the MagicPost Engagement page. Fetching comments is included in Creator, Agency, and Team, in the free trial, and for members of an active organization. On the Growth plan, the Reply tab is visible but fetching comments is locked.
The Reply space of MagicPost only covers comments received on your own posts. To comment on other people's posts, use the Comment tab of the same page: see how to use the engagement feed. MagicPost presents both spaces on the LinkedIn engagement feature page.
Where to find the Reply space
In the MagicPost sidebar, under Monitor, click Engagement.
At the top of the Engagement page, click the Reply tab.
The Reply space of MagicPost has two columns. The left column, My published posts, lists your LinkedIn posts. The right column shows the comments of the post you selected. Your LinkedIn account must be connected to MagicPost: see how to connect LinkedIn and renew your LinkedIn connection.
How to fetch the comments of a post
In the Reply space, MagicPost fetches comments when you ask for them, one post at a time. MagicPost does not fetch the comments of your posts automatically.
In My published posts, click the post. Older posts are grouped by age further down the column, and a search field filters them.
On the selected post, click Sync. On a post that was only partly fetched, the button reads Complete.
In the Sync comments? window, click Sync.
The Sync comments? window of MagicPost shows when the post was last synced and about how many new comments LinkedIn counts on it. When LinkedIn counts no new comment since the last sync, the window says so, and you can cancel.
A post missing from My published posts has not been imported into MagicPost yet. Click the refresh icon next to the column title, then Refresh. Refreshing imports your latest LinkedIn posts, including posts published outside MagicPost. Refreshing does not fetch comments: each post still has to be synced.
The daily sync limit
MagicPost limits the number of comment syncs you can start per day in the Reply space. The limit is not listed on the pricing page. When you get close to the limit, the Sync comments? window shows how many syncs you have left and when the counter resets.
Once the limit is reached, MagicPost shows No syncs left with the time when you can sync again. Comments already fetched stay available, and you can still reply to them.
How to reply to a comment
In the right column of the Reply space, stay on the To handle filter.
On a comment, click Reply.
Write your reply. The toolbar adds an emoji, an image or a GIF, and the bookmark icon inserts one of your Saved comments.
Click Reply under the editor to send it. MagicPost posts the reply on LinkedIn under the comment.
The Auto mention switch of the MagicPost reply editor starts each reply with an @ mention of the comment's author. Turn the switch off to write replies without the mention.
From the Reply space of MagicPost you can also react to a comment with a LinkedIn reaction, and edit a reply you wrote from the three-dot menu, with Edit.
To handle, Replied and Dismissed
The Reply space of MagicPost sorts the comments of a post into three filters.
To handle: comments you have neither answered nor dismissed.
Replied: comments you answered.
Dismissed: comments you set aside without answering, with the eye icon Mark as dismissed. Mark as not dismissed brings a comment back.
Dismissing a comment only changes how MagicPost lists it. The comment stays on LinkedIn, and its author is not notified.
Filter and sort the comments
In the Reply space of MagicPost, Filters narrows the comments by Country, by Followers and by Commenter: First time, Regular or Top commenter, based on how often the person has commented on your posts.
The Display menu of the Reply space sorts comments by Most recent, Oldest or Most followers. Under Badges shown, the same menu chooses the badges on each comment: Followers, Commenter and ICP affinity.
Turn a commenter into a lead or an engagement contact
The three-dot menu of a comment in the MagicPost Reply space can contain Add to leads. Add to leads appears only when your account has access to Leads and at least one ICP is ready. MagicPost does not show it on your own comments or on a commenter who is already a lead.
In the MagicPost Reply space, Add to leads lists your ICPs. Picking an ICP adds the commenter to your leads and scores the profile against that ICP. The scoring spends one Leads credit when the profile gets at least a Medium fit. See how lead credits work.
The ICP affinity badge of the MagicPost Reply space shows how well a commenter fits your ideal customer profiles. See what the Leads module is.
Hovering a commenter's name in the Reply space opens a card with their profile and your Engagement lists, so you can add the person to a list and follow their posts in the Comment tab.
Follow your activity
On a desktop screen, the Reply space of MagicPost shows a Today's activity card with the number of comments you replied to and dismissed today. Clicking the card opens the Log, which lists your replies day by day over a period you choose. Download exports the log as a file.
FAQ
Why is the comment list empty in the Reply space?
The selected post has not been synced yet, or it has no comments. A post marked Never synced shows its comments after you click Sync. A post marked No comments received has no comment counted by LinkedIn: its button reads Refresh the post and rechecks the count.
Does MagicPost fetch new comments automatically?
No. In the Reply space, MagicPost fetches comments only when you click Sync on a post. To see comments posted after your last sync, sync the post again.
Does deleting a comment in MagicPost delete it on LinkedIn?
Yes. Delete from LinkedIn permanently removes the comment from LinkedIn, along with its likes and replies, and cannot be undone. MagicPost offers this action on your own replies and on any comment under a post you authored.
Why does Sync open an upgrade window in the Reply space?
Fetching comments is not included in the Growth plan. The Reply tab stays visible on Growth, with your published posts, but Sync opens the Unlock comment fetching window. Fetching comments is included in Creator, Agency, and Team. See how to upgrade your MagicPost plan.
Can MagicPost write my replies with AI?
Not in the Reply space: replies in the MagicPost Reply space are written by you. Saved comments let you reuse replies you wrote before. The Reply space keeps its own list of saved comments, separate from the list of the Comment tab.
