The admin view: manage and measure your team
The admin view is the part of MagicPost where an administrator runs a Team or Agency organization: members and seats, activity, the team calendar and the metrics of every member in one place. Only administrators of the organization see the admin view. A member who is not an administrator only sees their own MagicPost.
This article covers what the MagicPost admin view contains, what a member needs for their numbers to appear, and what to check when a member's metrics show zero. For the use case, see MagicPost for employee advocacy.
How to switch between the user view and the admin view
A MagicPost administrator has a user view and an admin view. A button at the top of the sidebar, above the menu and under the account selector when the organization has one, moves between them:
User view: your own MagicPost, with your posts, your calendar and your metrics.
Admin view: the organization, with its members, its activity, its calendar and its metrics.
Opening any organization page switches MagicPost to the admin view. An administrator without a seat lands directly in the admin view and has no User view button, because their account has no MagicPost of its own.
What the MagicPost admin view contains
The sidebar of the MagicPost admin view is split into the groups Manage, Oversee and Measure.
Members, under Manage (Accounts in an agency organization): the member list. You add people, give roles, assign groups and change the number of seats. See working in a team and adding users and how to add, remove and reassign seats.
Guidelines, under Manage: brand guidelines that MagicPost adds to the AI generations of the members you choose. An agency organization has no Guidelines entry.
Activity, under Oversee: who created and published posts over the period, member by member, and who has LinkedIn connected.
Calendar, under Oversee: the posts of every member in one calendar. You can schedule a post or suggest an idea for one or several members.
Metrics, under Measure: the LinkedIn performance of the organization, detailed below.
Leads, under Measure: the leads of every member, in a team organization. The entry appears when the Leads module is on in the organization settings. See how to use Leads as a team.
The header of the MagicPost organization pages has a Tutorials button and a gear icon. The gear opens the organization settings: see how to set up your organization.
From the member list, Log in to the account opens a member's MagicPost. See how to work in a member's or client's account.
What the team Metrics page shows
The Metrics page of the MagicPost admin view adds up the LinkedIn performance of the members you select:
Overview cards: total impressions, followers, total reactions and total comments over the period.
A growth chart, with one line for the organization, one line per member or one line per group.
Top performers and Engagement distribution.
The most viewed and liked posts of the period.
Detailed data by member: one row per member, with impressions, likes, comments, followers and engagement rate.
In an agency organization, MagicPost does not show Top performers, Engagement distribution or Detailed data by member. The agency Metrics page keeps the overview cards, the growth chart and the top posts.
The filters at the top of the MagicPost team Metrics page set the group, the members and the period. The member filter and the period remember your last choice. Until you change it, the period is the default range shown in the period filter.
What a member needs for their numbers to appear
A member's LinkedIn numbers reach the MagicPost team metrics when both of these conditions are met:
The member has accepted their invitation. A member still marked Invited has no account yet, so no data.
The member's LinkedIn is connected. The LinkedIn column of the member list shows the connected profile type, or a dash when nothing is connected. To send a connection link, open the three-dot menu of the row and click Link to connect to LinkedIn.
What to check when a member's metrics show zero
Check the member filter. MagicPost restores your last selection. If you once filtered on a few members, everyone else is left out of every number on the page. Set the filter back to All members, or All accounts in an agency organization.
Check the group filter. A selected group limits the page to the members of that group.
Check the period. MagicPost also remembers a custom date range. A range that ends in the past contains no recent post. Pick a preset that ends today in the period filter.
Check the member's LinkedIn connection in the member list. In the weeks before a LinkedIn connection expires, MagicPost shows a badge with the expiry date on accounts added with Quick add, on members in approval mode and on every account of an agency organization. Click the badge to copy a renewal link. Other members, administrators and the owner get no badge: they renew LinkedIn in their own account, in Settings, under the LinkedIn tab. See how to connect LinkedIn and renew your LinkedIn connection.
Impressions at zero, but likes and comments correct? The member's LinkedIn connection lacks the permission to read impressions. Ask the member to open their own metrics page: MagicPost asks them to reconnect LinkedIn.
A recent change does not show? MagicPost keeps the team metrics in memory for a few minutes. Reload the page after a member connects LinkedIn.
FAQ
I share one MagicPost account with a colleague. Can we each see our own metrics?
No. One MagicPost account has one LinkedIn connection and one set of metrics. Give each person a seat in a MagicPost organization: each seat has its own login, its own LinkedIn connection and its own metrics. See working in a team and adding users.
Can members see each other's metrics?
No. The team Metrics page belongs to the MagicPost admin view, which only administrators of the organization can open. A member sees their own metrics.
Can I export the team's metrics?
Yes. On the Metrics page of the MagicPost admin view, click Export stats, then Individual report for one member or Multi-member report for several. In an agency organization, the second entry reads Multi-account report. MagicPost downloads the report as a file and has no link to share it.
Why do I not see the Export stats button?
MagicPost only shows Export stats on a wide screen. Open the Metrics page of the admin view on a computer and widen the browser window. The report download is not available on a phone, and Safari is not supported.
Why does my agency organization have no Guidelines entry and no team Leads view?
The Guidelines entry and the team Leads view of MagicPost are for team organizations, created by the Team plan. An agency organization has no Guidelines entry: each client account keeps its own settings. A Leads entry appears in an agency organization if the Leads module is switched on in the organization settings, but the entry sends you back to Accounts.
